Hey there, friends. I know life can throw curveballs we never see coming, and right now, Merrill Osmond and his family are facing one of the toughest moments anyone could imagine. The beloved 65-year-old Osmond Brothers singer recently shared heartbreaking news with his followers on Facebook. His son, Troy Osmond, passed away at the young age of 33. In a deeply emotional post, Merrill paid tribute to his son, expressing the family's sorrow while celebrating Troy's life.
A Heartfelt Tribute from a Father's Heart
Merrill’s message on November 9th was filled with both pain and love. He wrote, “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we must announce our precious son, Troy Dean, has passed away. As a family, our hearts are shattered, but we take comfort in knowing we’ll meet again. This was part of Heavenly Father’s plan for Troy. We will forever remember him as the sensitive, caring, and talented young man who brought so much joy to everyone he touched.”
Through his words, Merrill captures the essence of Troy—his compassion, his talents, and the light he brought to those around him. It's clear that Troy was not just a son but a beacon of love and kindness in his family's life.

A Legacy of Compassion
Merrill continued in his post, sharing more about Troy’s character. “He had an immense compassion for others and always knew when help was needed. The Christmas tour will go on as planned, just as Troy would have wanted it. I hope you’ll understand if I’m not as available as usual during this time.”
This statement shows Merrill’s strength in honoring his son's memory by continuing with the plans Troy would have supported. The response from his fans was overwhelming, with nearly 3,000 comments pouring in to offer condolences. One follower wrote, “I’m so very sorry for you and your family, Merrill.” Another added, “So sorry for your loss. There’s nothing worse than losing a child. I can only imagine what you and Mary are going through. My thoughts are with you all.”
Marie Osmond Reflects on Her Nephew
On Sunday, November 18th, Merrill’s younger sister, Marie Osmond, also took to Facebook to share her thoughts on Troy’s passing. She wrote, “This was a sad and challenging week for our family as my wonderful nephew Troy passed away in his sleep at 33. He had battled illness since he was nine years old, enduring immense pain throughout his life. While I’m grateful he’s no longer suffering, his loss leaves a huge void in our family. Troy was an inspiration to many, never letting his physical challenges get in the way of living life to the fullest. Above all, Troy cherished his family and supported them every chance he got, and we loved him deeply and fiercely.”
Marie’s words paint a vivid picture of Troy’s resilience and spirit. Despite the challenges he faced, he lived life with purpose and passion, inspiring those around him.

Marie also shared her personal experience of standing beside Merrill at Troy’s funeral. “I tried my best to comfort and share in his pain. I know that feeling of utter despair, praying to wake up from a nightmare and not being able to breathe. I remember the seemingly impossible task to continue on—for my other children, but I didn’t know how,” she expressed.
As time passed, Marie found solace in her faith. “I discovered the only way possible to survive this terrible time was to keep my eyes on the Savior. Because of my experience, I was able to tell Merrill and my sister-in-law, Mary, that I knew how devastating the loss of a child was, but they would be able to get through it if they kept turning their hearts to Him.”
