Here’s a heartwarming story from HGTV’s Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines. She recently took to Instagram to show just how rock-solid her love is with her husband, Chip Gaines. As the mother of five, Joanna shared some of the sweetest words and throwback photos to celebrate not only Chip but also a significant milestone—the 15th anniversary of their beloved company, Magnolia.
It all began back in 2003 when Chip and Joanna decided to chase their dream together. What started as a small venture has now blossomed into a multi-faceted empire. In her heartfelt Instagram post, Joanna reminisces about the early days of Magnolia and, honestly, it’s hard not to get a little teary-eyed reading it. So, let’s take a closer look at this touching tribute.

The vase on the counter- I remember I stenciled the words "imagine" and "dream" on these glass jugs I we bought for a buck each at a garage sale. They were my best seller that season. 😂 The sign on the building was what @chipgaines surprised me with when we found out we couldn't afford a real sign. He always saves the day. This was also the year that the phrase "Live Laugh & Love" was at its peak in popularity. And my biggest regret was selling that large antique counter in photo #3. I still think about that thing. I have zero regrets though about stepping out and just going for it- this shop, this business, it has our hearts. We are so thankful and this is why we SILOBRATE! Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years, we wouldn't be here without you❤️#silobration @magnolia

In her post, Joanna kicks things off with a nod to the 15 years of Magnolia’s existence. She dives deep into the details that bring her joy and nostalgia, pointing out memorable items from the photos she shared. There’s the humble storefront sign Chip surprised her with when they couldn’t afford a proper one. “He always saves the day,” Joanna says with pride. She reflects on their journey with gratitude, emphasizing how much their hearts are tied to this business. “We are so thankful, and this is why we SILOBRATE! Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years,” Joanna adds. It’s clear that Magnolia isn’t just a business—it’s a labor of love.
Joanna and Chip: A Family Built on Love and Values
It’s not just business that keeps Joanna and Chip grounded. These two have been together for over 15 years, raising a beautiful family of five kids—Drake, 13; Ella Rose, 11; Duke, 10; Emmie Kay, 8; and their newest bundle of joy, Crew, who’s just four months old. Their roots have kept them humble, and they’ve made it crystal clear that family always comes first. “Being good parents is Chip and Joanna’s first priority,” an insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. “They always put their family first and would move heaven and earth for their kids.”
The Art of Balancing Work and Family
With so much happening in their lives, Joanna and Chip have mastered the art of balancing work and family time. “They involved their kids in the filming of Fixer Upper so they could spend time with them both on and off camera,” the insider revealed. The couple also made a promise to their children—and to each other—that they’d never travel more than 30 minutes outside of Waco for their renovation projects. “It’s not worth it to take on some big deal and leave the kids for weeks,” Chip explained.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Magnolia?
Reflecting on 15 years of Magnolia must be an incredible feeling for Joanna and Chip. While Fixer Upper brought them massive success, they knew stepping away from the show was essential to prioritize their family. Luckily, the five seasons of the show gave them the recognition they needed to grow their brand. What started as a remodeling business has now expanded into so much more—a magazine, a boutique marketplace, vacation rentals, book deals, the Hearth & Hand line at Target, and even a restaurant. It’s clear that Joanna and Chip’s journey is far from over, and we can’t wait to see what other ventures they dream up next!
