A New Chapter in Scotland
It’s been an emotional journey for Kathie Lee Gifford, and this summer, she took it to the next level. The beloved TV star recently directed and starred in a film titled Love Me to Death, which she also wrote. Filmed in the stunning landscapes of Scotland, the movie follows a widow on a heartfelt quest for self-discovery. “This isn’t just any romantic comedy,” Kathie Lee told fans. “It’s for those who’ve given up hope that life has anything left to offer them.” As someone who lost her husband, Frank Gifford, in 2015, she knows firsthand what it means to rebuild a life after profound loss.
Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Sometimes it feels like it happened yesterday, and other times it feels like it’s been a lifetime ago.” Yet, the message of the film resonates deeply with her: “My character finally realizes, ‘I’m ready to step out of the shadow of my past and start defining myself again.’ That’s a powerful moment, one I truly embrace.” And as Kathie Lee celebrated her 65th birthday on August 16, she’s focusing on the joy and blessings in her life.

A Life Filled with Gratitude
“Kathie Lee is a woman of deep gratitude,” an insider shared exclusively with Closer Weekly. Despite the heartbreak of losing her husband, she remains incredibly thankful for the blessings in her life. Her children, Cody, 28, and Cassidy, 25, bring her immense joy, and she’s proud of the paths they’ve chosen. “She misses Frank every single day,” the source revealed, “but she’s also aware of how much she has to be grateful for—her health, her thriving kids, and the life she loves.”
On the anniversary of Frank’s passing, Kathie Lee honored him with prayer, just as she does daily. “She speaks to him with love,” the insider added. “She’s determined to keep his memory alive for their children, and her faith gives her the strength and comfort to move forward, knowing she’ll see him again someday.”
Coming to terms with life as a widow wasn’t easy for Kathie Lee. “There’s a moment when you simply accept your new reality,” she explained during an appearance on Today. “For me, it happened on the one-year anniversary of Frank’s passing. That’s when I took off my wedding ring and placed it on my right hand—a small but significant gesture.”
