Hey there, food lovers! Let’s dive into the inspiring story of Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, who became an Iron Chef in 2012. Since her big win, she’s been reflecting on how it has transformed her life. In a candid and exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, the 46-year-old chef shares some heartfelt thoughts about her experience on the wildly popular Food Network show. Stick around to watch the video above as Alex dishes out some tea (or should we say, wine!) with us.
A Confidence Boost Like No Other
Alex revealed that stepping onto a competition show was a monumental hurdle for her confidence. “It was such a big mental challenge to be on a show like that and keep telling myself the whole time that I could win. It wasn’t just about cooking; it was about getting into the right mindset,” she explained. “The cooking part was obviously crucial, but having the right mental space was just as important. You have to believe in yourself when the pressure is on.”

But what truly made Alex’s victory special was the incredible support she received from fellow chef Bobby Flay. Bobby, who’s been part of the series for almost two decades, approached Alex after her win with some incredibly kind words. “When I won, Bobby came up to me and said, ‘The best thing about this moment is how much you deserve it,’” Alex fondly recalled. Talk about a heartwarming gesture from one chef to another! Bobby’s words not only celebrated Alex’s talent but also highlighted the camaraderie within the culinary world.
One Word Descriptions of Her Colleagues
And it wasn’t just Bobby who got Alex’s glowing praise. We asked her to describe some of her colleagues in a single word, and she delivered with charm and wit. For Daphne Oz, she simply said, “Beautiful hair.” When it came to the dynamic Guy Fieri, known for his show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Alex remarked, “Fun and amazing.” Italian chef Giada de Laurentiis earned the quirky description of “Mozzarella cheese and laughter,” while Rachael Ray was labeled as “brilliant.” It’s safe to say Alex’s one-word descriptions perfectly capture the essence of her fellow chefs, and we couldn’t agree more!
