Meghan Markle's Estranged Sister Opens Up About ‘Cashing In’ On The Royal Family

Why Meghan Markle's Estranged Half-Sister Samantha Grant Is Really

Let's talk about an awkward situation. Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, has been vocal since Meghan's engagement to Prince Harry. Now, she's come forward to admit that she's "cashing in" on the royal family's fame. Let's break this down.

Samantha Markle Speaks Out on Her Role in the Media

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain on July 23, Samantha spoke candidly about her career and her sister's royal status. “I’ve worked in media most of my life and in broadcasting,” she shared. “So, just because my sister is suddenly royal, that doesn’t mean I should stop doing what I’ve been doing all my life.”

She added, with a touch of humor, “Let’s face it, we all have to survive. Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that’s fine. But no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royals. It’s just how it works.”

Why Samantha Believes She Has a Right to Speak Out

Samantha went on to explain her perspective. “The media makes billions off social issues and talking about the royals. I don’t see how we’re any different. No one has a copyright on our life experiences,” she said firmly. “We’re each individuals with our own life experiences. With all due respect, it’s not just about Meg. We’re entitled to share that, we’re entitled to be open about it. If we can shed some light on some issues for the public, then great.”

She concluded thoughtfully, “We can enjoy the process. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. It’s not disparaging, it’s not harmful. It’s just part of the conversation.”

    Samantha Reflects on Family Ties

The 53-year-old Samantha did not attend Meghan’s royal wedding on May 19, and today, she remains in contact with their ailing father, Thomas Markle, who missed the Duchess of Sussex’s nuptials after allegedly suffering a heart attack. Despite this, Samantha hopes for a reconciliation between Meghan and their father.

“I felt as though if something were to happen to him, and he passed away, I don’t think any of us could live with the fact that he died unhappy and there was no closure,” she expressed on the morning talk show. “I believe in her heart that she would want that also. So given the circumstances over the last several months since the wedding, I think he really just wants to embrace her, and have some closure on the distance, and the misperception and really let her know that he loves her.”

Of course, this might be challenging for Meghan, considering her father's recent controversial interviews. But Samantha remains hopeful.
