How Clint Harp’s Friendship with Chip Gaines Shaped His Career
Before Fixer Upper became a nationwide sensation, Clint Harp shared a unique bonding moment with Chip Gaines that set the stage for their future success. In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Clint revealed that they connected over ham sandwiches on his shop floor. "We sat there, eating those sandwiches, wondering what we were getting ourselves into," Clint reminisced. At the time, Clint had just made the bold move of leaving behind a six-figure salary to chase his dream of crafting custom furniture. When Chip and Joanna Gaines invited him to appear on their TV pilot, Clint knew it was a chance he couldn’t pass up.
From Uncertainty to Stardom: The Rise of Fixer Upper
"We had no idea what was ahead of us," Clint confessed to Closer Weekly. As it turned out, the Gaines' show would not only become HGTV’s top-rated program but also launch a media empire that would captivate audiences across the country. Over the past five years, Fixer Upper has inspired millions, and Clint has been an integral part of its success. Now, at 40, Clint is ready for the next chapter in his journey with Wood Work, which premiered in May on the DIY Network. This new series offers Clint and his wife, Kelly, the opportunity to showcase their talents and build their own legacy.

Wood Work: A New Chapter in Clint Harp’s Life
Clint and Kelly are excited about the possibilities that come with headlining their own series. "We’ll see where this takes us," Clint said, acknowledging the challenges of stepping into the spotlight. Wood Work highlights the work of Clint and Kelly’s Harp Design Co., showcasing how they deliver "cool and different pieces" when clients make unique requests. However, Clint insists the show isn’t just about him. Thanks to the exposure gained from HGTV, their team has grown significantly. "We have 25 to 30 employees now," Clint shared. "We’re a team—me, my wife, and 25 of our good friends, basically!"
Clint’s experience in front of the Fixer Upper cameras bodes well for Wood Work’s success, and his close ties with potential A-list guest stars like Chip and Joanna Gaines only add to the excitement. "Chip and Joanna are always welcome on my show anytime," Clint joked. He’s genuinely grateful for the platform they’ve provided. "I send them a regular chocolate delivery every Friday to thank them," he added with a smile.
