Could Last Man Standing Be Making A Comeback? Tim Allen Gives Fans Hope!

Last Man Standing Is Officially Back: Tim Allen Sitcom Revived by Fox

Remember when hearts sank after Last Man Standing got the boot from ABC back in May 2017? Well, fast forward to today, and the show's beloved star, Tim Allen, has given fans a glimmer of hope that the series might just be making a triumphant return. In a recent tweet, the 64-year-old comedian expressed his gratitude for the vocal support from fans, hinting at the possibility of a revival. “They heard all your voices people!! LMS just might be a reality. Keep it up. Who wants more #LastManStanding?” Tim wrote, igniting excitement among the loyal fanbase.

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?

The Hollywood Reporter has also chimed in with some exciting news: Fox is reportedly in preliminary discussions to bring Last Man Standing back for a seventh season. Industry insiders have confirmed that Tim Allen is on board to reprise his role as Mike Baxter, the show's central character. This development comes after several networks, including CMT, passed on the opportunity earlier this year. CMT reportedly considered picking up the series but ultimately decided against it due to financial disagreements. Meanwhile, NBC also declined, citing their already packed lineup.

Tim Allen Reacts to the Cancellation

When the original cancellation news broke, Tim Allen wasn’t shy about sharing his disappointment. Taking to Twitter, he expressed his shock and frustration, calling ABC his "home" for the past six years. Fans quickly flooded social media with questions and support, wondering why such a beloved show had been taken off the air. ABC later explained that scheduling conflicts were the primary reason behind the decision. Channing Dungey, the then-president of ABC Entertainment, stated that while the show performed well in the ratings, it simply didn't fit into the network's new programming strategy.

  • “A large part of these jobs are managing failure and we’ve made the tough calls and canceled shows that we’d otherwise love to stay on the air,” Dungey explained. “That’s the job. I canceled Last Man Standing for the same business and scheduling reasons that I canceled Dr. Ken, The Real O’Neals, The Catch, and American Crime. And Last Man Standing was a challenging one for me because it was a steady performer in the ratings, but once we made the decision not to continue with comedies on Fridays, that was where we landed.”

    What About a Revival?

While the future of Last Man Standing remains uncertain, fans are holding out hope for a revival. With Tim Allen's recent tweet and Fox's interest, there's a real possibility that the show could return to our screens. And let's not forget, a revival of Last Man Standing might just pave the way for another beloved Tim Allen series, Home Improvement, to make a comeback. Here's hoping we get to see more of Tim's signature humor and the Baxter family's antics in the near future!
