Elton John Brings the Music to a Royal Celebration

When it comes to the big day for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it seems that the legendary Elton John will be more than just an attendee. Reports are swirling that Elton is not only going to grace the occasion with his presence but also with his musical talents. Whether he'll be serenading the couple during the ceremony itself or at the lavish reception remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: it's going to be a profoundly moving moment. After all, Elton had a deep friendship with Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, making this a deeply personal event for him as well.

Back in February, fans were left scratching their heads when Elton mysteriously canceled his performances over the weekend of the royal wedding. His final show before the big day was on Thursday, May 17, at Caesars Palace. While fans weren't thrilled at the time, it turns out there couldn't be a better reason for the cancellations. Let's just say, it's a win-win for everyone involved!

A Royal Repeat Performance

Elton John has a history of attending royal weddings, as he was present at Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey. With that track record, it seems almost inevitable that Elton would receive another invitation to the royal festivities. His connection to the royal family runs deep, especially through his friendship with Princess Diana, which makes his attendance all the more meaningful.

Elton’s Vegas Residency Pauses for Royalty

At 70 years old, Elton John is in the midst of his highly acclaimed "The Million Dollar Piano" residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a run that started back in September 2011. However, it seems that even this prestigious gig couldn't stand in the way of a royal invitation. The residency is set to conclude in May 2018, and it appears Elton may have even canceled his final two shows to make room for the wedding. That's dedication!

Elton made it clear that he hoped to be invited to Harry and Meghan's special day, acknowledging the scheduling conflict in a January interview with The Sun. "It will be nice because I love him very dearly," he said. "I’m playing in Vegas, so I don’t know what’s going to happen." Well, it looks like he figured it out, and we couldn't be happier for him!

    A Bond Formed Over Time

Elton and Harry spent some quality time together at Google Camp last summer, allowing Elton to get to know the prince better. "I could tell that he was totally in love," Elton revealed during a January interview. "He didn’t really discuss much personally, but he said, 'I’m in love,' and I thought, 'Good for you.'" With both men having a special bond through their connection to Princess Diana, it's no surprise that Elton would be thrilled to celebrate this joyous occasion with Harry and Meghan.

While the official guest list has yet to be unveiled, it's a safe bet that Elton will be there alongside his husband, David Furnish. Let's hope the rest of the news surrounding the wedding remains as positive as this!
