Elton’s Vegas Residency Pauses for Royalty
At 70 years old, Elton John is in the midst of his highly acclaimed "The Million Dollar Piano" residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a run that started back in September 2011. However, it seems that even this prestigious gig couldn't stand in the way of a royal invitation. The residency is set to conclude in May 2018, and it appears Elton may have even canceled his final two shows to make room for the wedding. That's dedication!
Elton made it clear that he hoped to be invited to Harry and Meghan's special day, acknowledging the scheduling conflict in a January interview with The Sun. "It will be nice because I love him very dearly," he said. "I’m playing in Vegas, so I don’t know what’s going to happen." Well, it looks like he figured it out, and we couldn't be happier for him!
A Bond Formed Over Time
Elton and Harry spent some quality time together at Google Camp last summer, allowing Elton to get to know the prince better. "I could tell that he was totally in love," Elton revealed during a January interview. "He didn’t really discuss much personally, but he said, 'I’m in love,' and I thought, 'Good for you.'" With both men having a special bond through their connection to Princess Diana, it's no surprise that Elton would be thrilled to celebrate this joyous occasion with Harry and Meghan.
