It’s the question that’s been on every Grey’s Anatomy fan’s mind lately: Is the beloved medical drama finally coming to an end? Just days after Ellen Pompeo hinted that the show might be nearing its conclusion after 14 seasons, her fellow ABC star, Debbie Allen, shared a much different perspective during an exclusive chat with Closer Weekly. Debbie opened up about the future of the show while promoting her new Dove Real Beauty Productions film, An Hour With Her.

Debbie Allen: The Show Still Has Strong Momentum

When asked about the potential end of Grey’s Anatomy, Debbie Allen had a lot to say. “I don’t see that happening right now,” she firmly stated. “The train is so strong, and the audience is incredibly committed. This show isn’t just popular in the U.S.; it’s a global phenomenon. Grey’s Anatomy continues to attract new fans, especially younger audiences. In the last couple of years, we’ve seen a surge in viewership from teens who started watching from Season 1 and have now become our most dedicated fans,” she revealed. Debbie also praised the show’s storytelling, saying, “We’ve got a remarkable season ahead, and I believe the fans will be blown away by what’s coming up.”

Ellen Pompeo: Time to Say Goodbye?

On the flip side, Ellen Pompeo, who plays the iconic Dr. Meredith Grey, recently told Us Weekly that the show might be coming to an end after more than a decade on the air. Ellen, who has been with the series since its inception, admitted, “There is an end, and it’s getting closer.” While the ultimate decision will rest with Ellen and creator Shonda Rhimes, fans can take solace in the fact that the show has already been renewed for Season 15. For now, there’s still plenty to look forward to, including the final three episodes of the current season.
