In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, actress Jane Seymour opens up about a cherished tradition passed down through the women in her family. “My mother always told me, ‘Accept what life throws at you, open your heart, and reach out to help others,’” Jane fondly remembers her late mom, Mieke, who survived internment during World War II. It’s a lesson that has deeply influenced her own life and the way she raises her children.
Fast forward to today, and Jane’s daughter, Katherine Flynn, 36, is continuing this legacy by instilling the same values in her own kids. “Giving back has always been a huge part of our family culture,” Katherine says with pride. “It’s something we carry with us every day, no matter how busy life gets.”

Building Bonds Through Generations
Both Jane and Katherine are committed to supporting each other on their personal journeys. “That’s the essence of what my mother taught me,” Jane explains. “It’s something that Katie picked up naturally, without me even having to teach her. And guess what? Her kids are exactly the same! Even my two-year-old granddaughter just loves helping out. It’s incredible to see this tradition live on through the generations.”
“They’re truly amazing,” Jane gushes about her grandchildren. “I love how loving and generous they are. It’s a beautiful reminder that kindness can be passed down just like any other family trait.”
