Hey there, friends! Let's dive into the heartwarming return of the Conner family. The much-anticipated reboot of Roseanne finally aired on ABC on March 27, 2018—two decades after the original series wrapped up. Fans were thrilled to see nearly the entire original cast back in action, including Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Sarah Chalke, Michael Fishman, and Johnny Galecki. But wait, there's more! The reboot also introduces a few new characters. So, how many of these familiar faces are Roseanne's kids? Let’s take a closer look at the Conner clan and discover the answers!
Becky Conner-Healy: The Eldest Daughter
Becky, the eldest child of Roseanne and Dan Conner, was originally portrayed by Lecy Goranson from Seasons 1 through 5. In 1992, Lecy decided to step away from the show to focus on her education at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her college schedule allowed her to make occasional appearances during Season 5, where Becky surprisingly eloped with her boyfriend, Mark Healy, played by the late Glenn Quinn. This unexpected twist saw Becky leaving her Illinois hometown to start a new life elsewhere. Since Becky lived out-of-state, Lecy often appeared on the show speaking to her parents on the phone, continuing to guest-star in several episodes.

By Season 6, the producers of Roseanne wanted Becky to appear more frequently, so they decided to recast the role. Enter Sarah Chalke, who stepped in to play Becky for Seasons 6 and 7. Lecy later returned briefly for Season 8 but eventually left again, allowing Sarah to take over the role for the show’s ninth and final season. Now, in the reboot, both Lecy and Sarah are back! Lecy portrays a grown-up Becky, while Sarah plays a middle-class woman named Andrea who hires Becky to be her surrogate. Talk about a twist!
Darlene Conner-Healy: The Middle Child
Darlene, Roseanne and Dan’s middle child and second eldest daughter, was originally played by Sara Gilbert, who also returned for the revival series. Darlene married her high school sweetheart, David Healy, portrayed by Johnny Galecki, at the end of the original show. Johnny came back for one episode of the reboot to reprise his role as Darlene’s now ex-husband. Despite their separation, Darlene and David are parents to two children—daughter Harris Conner-Healy, played by Emma Kenney, and son Mark Conner-Healy, portrayed by Ames McNamara. In the first episode of the new Roseanne, Darlene moves back in with her parents after losing her job. Life sure throws you curveballs, doesn’t it?

DJ Conner: The Eldest Son
Remember DJ, the third child and eldest son of Roseanne and Dan? Played by actor Michael Fishman, who was just a little boy when he first took on the role, DJ is now back as a grown-up. In the reboot's premiere episode, DJ returns home from Syria after serving in the US Army for years. His wife, Geena Williams, hasn’t been introduced yet, but the Conner family mentions her and prays for her safe return from serving abroad. DJ and Geena are now proud parents to a young daughter named Mary Conner, played by actress Jayden Rey. Isn’t it amazing how much life has changed for these characters?
