There's nothing quite like diving back into the lives of characters you've grown up with, and fans have been absolutely thrilled to welcome the Roseanne reboot into their homes. And here's the best part — the Conner family isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Season 11 is officially on the way, with cameras rolling later this month. Michael Fishman, who plays the beloved D.J. Conner, opened up exclusively to Closer Weekly, sharing his excitement: “Season 11 feels like a dream come true. We had so many storylines planned for Season 10 that never saw the light of day. Now, we’ve got a chance to explore even more of the family dynamics that make this show so special.”
Bringing the Conner Family Back to Life
When the Roseanne revival premiered back in late March, it was like a breath of fresh air for fans who had missed the Conner clan. The ratings soared through the roof, leaving no one surprised. “There was just this incredible buzz around the show,” costume designer Erin Quigley, who returned as part of the original crew, told Closer. “The writers really nailed it by capturing the heart and soul of what made the original series so iconic. It’s about real people dealing with universal issues that anyone can relate to.”
ABC’s Big Decision
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey didn’t waste any time confirming the reboot’s second season shortly after the premiere. In a statement, she expressed her delight: “We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. The show remains just as fresh and relevant today as it was when it first went off the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.”

Roseanne Barr: A New Chapter
Back in the day, the set of the original sitcom wasn't always a smooth ride. Roseanne Barr often clashed with writers and network executives about her vision for the show. But things have changed over the years. Quigley noted, “Roseanne has definitely mellowed with age. She’s a grandma now, and that role is incredibly important to her. She’s always been an insanely smart and funny person who truly cares about her work, and that passion is more evident than ever before.”
A Second Chance at Redemption
Roseanne Barr is thrilled to have this opportunity to rewrite history after the show's controversial ninth and final season in 1996-1997. You remember that one, right? The Conner family supposedly won the lottery and became rich, only to find out later it was all a dream. “She loves the redemption aspect of the show coming back,” Quigley explained. “It ended on such a strange note, and she loved the show more than anyone else. This is her chance to get it right.”

That same excitement has spread to viewers across the country. “It’s pretty amazing,” Roseanne said of the revival. “It’s incredibly exciting and emotionally overwhelming.” Michael Fishman added, “It feels like coming home. You can really see on-screen how much we all love working together!”
Why Roseanne Still Matters
At a time when the country feels more divided than ever, the new Roseanne delivers something we all desperately need: comic relief. “The biggest thing from the show, and I think fans would agree, is learning how to tackle tough times with humor,” Michael explained. “It’s about sticking together — that’s the heart of the show.” And no one does it better than Roseanne and her crew. “It felt like there was a time warp,” Quigley recalled. “It took about 30 seconds for everyone to fall back into place.” Laurie Metcalf summed it up perfectly: “We were a family for nine straight seasons, working every day together and building that bond. Twenty years later, you can’t buy that kind of chemistry.”
