One thing we can all agree on is that Sarah Jessica Parker nailed the 2018 Met Gala’s theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. Her long-sleeved gold gown, designed by Dolce & Gabbana, was meticulously embroidered with red hearts. But let’s be real, it was her massive nativity scene headpiece that really turned heads and got people talking. You can’t help but admire her commitment to the theme, right?
Speaking to E! News before the event, SJP said, “I am inspired by the themes. One can only do their best. This was particularly enjoyable because Dolce & Gabbana — they’re devoted observant Catholics — and so they’ve grown up with the church and its imagery. They had a lot of strong feelings and beautiful sketches, so it was easy.”

The Intersection of Fashion and Religion
Before the Met Gala, curator Andrew Bolton opened up about the 2018 theme. “Fashion and religion have long been intertwined, mutually inspiring and informing one another. Although this relationship has been complex and sometimes contested, it has produced some of the most inventive and innovative creations in the history of fashion,” he explained. So, whether you’re Team SJP or not, her look definitely fits the bill for this year’s theme. The jury may still be out on her 2018 Met Gala outfit, but we’re already excited to see what she’ll bring to the table next year!
