Even though Julianne Hough is taking a well-deserved break from Dancing With the Stars, her husband Brooks Laich has officially expressed his desire to compete on the beloved ABC show—and it’s all for the sweetest reason. During a recent interview, the hockey pro was asked if he’d ever consider stepping onto the ballroom floor. His response? "You know what, I would." And trust me, there’s more to his answer than you’d expect.
Now here’s the truly romantic part. Brooks, 34, went on to explain why he’d want to participate. "I would because I want to learn technically how to lead my wife," he said during an interview with Access. He continued, "She says we dance in the kitchen. I try to lead, I try to have a presence of leadership, but I don’t technically know how to move her the way she’s been moved in her life. It’s a little weird to say, but I’d do the show just to get that education." Wow, talk about dedication and love! While it might not be possible for Julianne to join him—since she’s stepping away from the show for now—it would be pretty incredible if the couple could dance together on the show someday, wouldn’t it?

Julianne Hough’s Dancing With the Stars Break
With the next season of Dancing With the Stars just around the corner—the 26th season is set to premiere in late April—Julianne, 29, won’t be returning as a pro dancer. In a heartfelt statement, she explained her decision. "It’s just new chapters of life. I mean, I love the show. I’ll always be a part of the show in some way—whether it’s Dancing With the Stars or just being a part of the dance movement," she said. Julianne’s decision to step back is well-deserved, and it’s clear she’s ready to focus on other passions in her life.
Julianne’s Impact on Dance
Julianne also took a moment to reflect on the impact Dancing With the Stars has had on the world of dance. "It really has been a movement of dance in the last 10 years, with all the different shows that have really elevated dancers and put them on a platform they deserve," she noted. "Dancers are usually in the background supporting, but now they’re at the forefront, and it makes me so happy that I was a part of that journey too." Her contributions to the show and the dance community have been nothing short of remarkable.
Dancing With the Stars will be back with a special four-week athletes edition premiering on April 30 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. Tune in to see the new faces gracing the dance floor!
