After more than four decades of marriage, Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin McGraw, continue to be as much in love as they were on their wedding day. So, what’s the magic formula behind their enduring happiness? In a recent, exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Dr. Phil, now 67, joked, “It’s me saying, ‘Yes, dear!’” But Robin, 64, has a different take. She insists that her love for Phil was instant. “It was love at first sight — or maybe by the end of the first night,” she said. “But I truly knew that very first evening we sat and talked that he was the one for me.”

Open Communication and Shared Values: The Glue That Holds Them Together
Robin credits their unwavering commitment to open communication and shared values as the cornerstone of their lasting bond. “We’ve always been open with each other, and that’s what keeps us strong,” she explained. “I told Phil early on that I couldn’t live in a home filled with conflict. Growing up, my parents never raised their voices, and my dad adored my mom. I needed to know that I was loved and cherished. I may not live in a fairy tale, but I demanded to be treated with dignity and respect.”
Phil has never let her down. Over the years, Robin has come to treasure his strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to their family. Together, they’ve raised two incredible sons, Jay, 38, and Jordan, 31. “Phil’s the kind of guy who always thinks with his head, while I tend to think with my heart,” Robin said. Yet, when it comes to their grandchildren, Avery and London, Dr. Phil proves he can be just as sentimental as his wife.

Dr. Phil admits that when it comes to their grandchildren, he’s more than willing to let his guard down and indulge them. “Popsicles are in endless supply, and bedtime rules seem to disappear when they’re with us,” he laughed. But he’s confident that Jay and his wife, Erica Dahm, maintain a much stricter routine at home. After all, Dr. Phil and Robin have always prioritized raising responsible and well-rounded children. “Jay’s an amazing dad,” Dr. Phil shared proudly. “I’ve always tried to lead by example, showing him the importance of investing time in his kids. I coached basketball for 14 years with my boys, and Robin and I never missed a single game!”
