There’s nothing quite like watching a child reach new milestones, and Hoda Kotb’s little bundle of joy, Haley Joy, is doing just that. The proud mom recently took to Instagram to share an adorable video of her 13-month-old daughter taking her first official steps during an Easter egg hunt. While this wasn’t Haley’s first Easter—she was only two months old during last year’s festivities—it was certainly her first time participating in the fun. “Happy Easter!!!” Hoda captioned the delightful video, which shows Haley confidently collecting colorful plastic eggs. Now, while this might not be the very first time Haley has taken steps—she looks like a seasoned pro at this point—it’s the first time Hoda has shared such precious footage with her followers. Watching Haley toddle around, you can’t help but smile as she explores the world around her, one egg at a time.

Haley Joy's Milestones: Walking and Talking
Walking isn’t the only exciting milestone Haley Joy is conquering these days. This little one is also starting to talk up a storm. Back in March, Hoda revealed that Haley’s first word was a bit unconventional: “Bob.” As Hoda joked, “We don’t know who Bob is. Every time she said it, we’d laugh and ask, ‘Who is Bob?’” It turns out that “Bob” was likely a mix of “bottle” and something else, but isn’t it always fun when kids surprise us with their unique take on language?
Haley is picking things up quickly, though, and has already added some more common words to her vocabulary. “She can say ‘mama’ and ‘dada,’ which is great,” Hoda shared. Interestingly, it was Hoda’s mom who taught Haley to say “mama” while Hoda was in Korea. “It was so cool,” Hoda added. “She sent me the video, but then I started to think maybe Haley thought ‘mama’ was the phone.” How endearing is that? It’s moments like these that remind us just how special—and sometimes funny—parenting can be.
