Listen, folks, life throws us some unexpected twists, and that's exactly what happened this week when Keith Richards stepped into the spotlight—not with his guitar, but with some surprisingly sharp words aimed at his longtime bandmate, Mick Jagger. Keith, the rock 'n' roll legend, took a jab at Mick for welcoming his eighth child at the ripe old age of 73. But guess what? The story doesn't end there. Keith, realizing he might've crossed the line, quickly stepped up to the plate and issued a heartfelt apology. In a tweet on February 28, Keith wrote, “I deeply regret the comments I made about Mick in the [Wall Street Journal] which were completely out of line. I have of course apologized to him in person.”

Now, let's rewind a bit. Earlier the same day, Keith, who's also 74, couldn't resist the urge to play doctor and suggested Mick might want to consider a vasectomy. In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Keith quipped, “It’s time for the snip—you can’t be a father at that age. Those poor kids!” But let's not forget, Mick, also 74, became a dad for the eighth time in December 2016, when his son Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger was born to his 31-year-old girlfriend, ballet dancer Melanie Hamrick. So, yeah, it's complicated, and Keith's comments were bound to raise some eyebrows.

Family Ties: The Rich Tapestry of Mick Jagger's Family Life
Now, let's zoom out and take a broader look at Mick Jagger's impressive family tree. Mick, besides being a rock star, is also a father to seven older children from four different women. The list includes Karis Jagger, 47, Jade Jagger, 46, Elizabeth Jagger, 33, James Jagger, 32, Georgia May Jagger, 26, Gabriel Jagger, 20, and Lucas Jagger, 18. And if that's not enough, Mick is also a grandfather to five grandchildren and even became a great-grandfather back in 2014. On the other hand, Keith Richards has his own family saga, with four children—Marlon Richard, 48, Angela Richards, 45, Theodora Richards, 32, and Alexandra Richards, 31—and five grandchildren. Unfortunately, one of Keith's sons, Tara Richards, passed away as an infant in 1976 due to SIDS.
The Rollercoaster Ride of a 50-Year Partnership
Here's the kicker: despite their decades-long collaboration in the Rolling Stones, Mick and Keith have always had a relationship that's as fiery as it is fruitful. Back in 2010, Keith spilled the beans in his memoir, Life, where he labeled Mick as "unbearable." Yet, in a twist of fate, Keith later admitted, “Mick and I would have spats anyway, no matter what I said in the book, and I left a lot out. [But] Mick and I live off of this fire between us.” In yet another interview, Keith confessed that his friendship with Mick has been "up and downhill," but there's no denying that "there ain’t a front-man like Jagger.” He added, “Don’t matter how many bones you want to pick out of him, he’s amazing to work with.” So, here's hoping Mick accepts Keith's latest apology and they continue to rock the world together.
