After nearly a year of separation, actor Ewan McGregor has officially filed for divorce from his wife, French production designer Eve Mavrakis. This move comes just three months after photos surfaced suggesting Ewan had been involved in an affair with a co-star. The couple had been together for over two decades and share four children. In divorce documents obtained by TMZ, Ewan cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. He’s also seeking joint custody of their three minor children and is open to paying spousal support.
Two Decades of Marriage Comes to an End
For over 22 years, Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis have shared a life together, raising four children: Anouk, 7, Esther, 16, Jamyan, 17, and Clara, 22. But now, the couple's marriage has come to an end. Ewan’s decision to file for divorce comes after photos were published in The Sun last October showing the Moulin Rouge! star in an intimate moment with his Fargo co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The images showed the pair dining together and later kissing before riding off on Ewan’s motorcycle. It was a dramatic turn of events for a marriage that had appeared solid for so many years.
The Affair That Rocked the Relationship
The story broke last October, with pictures published in The Sun showing Ewan and Mary Elizabeth Winstead dining together at The Good Life Eatery in London. Witnesses described the pair as relaxed and engaged in deep conversation. After their meal, they were seen kissing and then leaving together on Ewan's motorcycle. A source told The Sun, “Ewan and Mary Elizabeth were there together and seemed relaxed in each other’s company. The café was really busy with people coming in and out the whole time. They were deep in conversation and were there together for more than an hour. As they left, she got onto the back of Ewan’s motorbike, and they sped off together.”

Private Split Turned Public
Ewan revealed that he and Eve had separated back in May but decided to keep the news private. In hindsight, it seems the couple had been hinting at the split for months, as they were frequently seen on social media without their wedding rings. Interestingly, Mary Elizabeth Winstead also announced her separation from her husband, Riley McCormack, in May. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “We’ve decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days. We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley.”
