Grammys 2018: Why Are Stars Wearing White Roses? Everything You Need to

This year, the Grammys red carpet wasn’t just about glamorous outfits—it was a powerful statement. The music industry's biggest names chose to accessorize with a white rose, standing in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement. Just like the Golden Globes earlier this month, where attendees wore black, the Grammys became another platform for raising awareness about sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace.

Stars Show Their Support with White Roses

From Lady Gaga to Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas, the list of celebrities who walked the red carpet with a white rose in hand is impressive. These stars were responding to a call from Voices in Entertainment, an organization that sent out a letter urging artists and industry professionals to participate in this symbolic gesture. The movement aimed to highlight the ongoing fight against sexual harassment and abuse in all industries.

The letter, as reported by People magazine, explained the significance of the white rose: "As we are inspired by the #TimesUp campaign, we are encouraging the artists that we work with and our colleagues attending the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in NYC to wear a white rose to the ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 28." It continued, "We choose the white rose because historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy, and resistance."

Rita Ora, the talented singer and actress, proudly pinned a white rose to her strapless black gown. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, she expressed her enthusiasm for participating in this movement. "I think it’s so incredible how the world is pivoting in a new direction naturally and organically," she said. "And I think that just showing solidarity and unity makes everything more powerful. The more voices come together, the more powerful everything gets. It’s so cool to see how we’re just taking control. It’s really lovely."

    Kesha's Powerful Performance

Kesha, who bravely stepped forward as part of the #MeToo movement when she accused music producer Dr. Luke of sexual misconduct last year, took the stage at the Grammys. Her performance of the song "Praying" was more than just music—it was a mini-protest. Kesha was joined by an all-female lineup of performers, including Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels, Andra Day, and Bebe Rexha, amplifying the night's message of unity and empowerment.

Don’t miss out—tune in to the 60th annual Grammy Awards tonight, hosted by the charming James Corden on CBS starting at 7:30 p.m.
