Marion Ross Opens Up About Her Time on Happy Days

In a heartfelt interview with Closer Weekly, the legendary Marion Ross, best known for her role as Marion Cunningham on the iconic sitcom Happy Days, took a trip down memory lane. She reminisced about her incredible journey on the show and paid tribute to her late co-star Erin Moran, who tragically passed away at the age of 56 in April 2017. Erin, who played Marion's on-screen daughter Joanie Cunningham, left an indelible mark on the series and its fans.

Reflecting on the challenges of child stardom, Marion shared some sage advice. “It’s a tough world out there, and I don’t recommend families throwing their children into the spotlight unless they can handle it as gracefully as the Howard family did,” she revealed at the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection, presented by Macy’s, in NYC at the Hammerstein Ballroom on February 8. Her words carry weight, as she understands the pressures that come with fame, especially for young actors.

When asked by Closer how the cast keeps Erin’s memory alive, Marion, now 89, shared, “We all talk about her as much as we want to. Her presence is still very much felt among us.” She further revealed that her former co-stars played a crucial role in helping her write her upcoming book, My Days: Happy and Otherwise.

“You’ll want to get your hands on this book by the end of March. All the Happy Days family contributed to it,” Marion shared excitedly. She also mentioned that she has countless cherished memories from her time on the show, particularly from the cast's softball team. “I’m a fantastic softball player. I don’t slow down much! Like most women, we’re always on the go,” she joked, bringing a smile to everyone’s face.

Marion Advocates for Heart Health Awareness

Marion, who recently participated in the American Heart Association and Macy’s Go Red for Women event, emphasized the importance of heart health. “Heart disease runs deep in my family. My mother, father, and husband all succumbed to it. And here I am, 89 years young, advocating for heart health,” she said with determination. “If you take care of your heart and stay aware, you can live a long, healthy life. I’m so grateful to Macy’s for hosting this incredible event.”
