It’s been nearly four decades since the tragic loss of beloved actress Natalie Wood. Back in 1981, Natalie drowned while on a yacht with her husband, Robert Wagner. At the time, authorities ruled her death an accident, but the circumstances have always raised eyebrows. Now, with new developments, the case has been reopened, and things are getting more intriguing.
In a recent interview with CBS' 48 Hours, set to air on Saturday, February 3, LA County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant John Corina made a startling revelation. Robert Wagner, Natalie's husband, is now officially considered a "person of interest" in the case. "Think about it," Corina explained. "He was the last one with Natalie before she went missing. That alone makes him a key figure in this investigation."

From Marriage to Mystery: A Timeline of Natalie and Robert's Relationship
Robert and Natalie’s love story was as compelling as any Hollywood tale. They first tied the knot in 1957 when Natalie was just 19 years old, and Robert was 27. But like many relationships in Tinseltown, theirs faced turbulence. By 1962, they called it quits, divorcing after five years of marriage. However, love often finds a way, and in 1972, they remarried. They stayed together until Natalie’s untimely death at the age of 43 in 1981.
Since the case was reopened, Robert, now 87, has remained tight-lipped with investigators. However, he did address Natalie’s death in his 2008 memoir, Pieces of My Heart. In it, he recounted a chaotic night aboard the yacht. After drinking heavily, an argument erupted between him and actor Christopher Walken, who was also on board. The disagreement centered on Natalie’s career, and in a moment of rage, Robert allegedly smashed a wine bottle on the table, shattering it into pieces. Despite these dramatic events, Robert insists he doesn’t know how Natalie ended up in the water. "There are only two possibilities," he wrote. "Either she was trying to escape the argument, or she was attempting to tie the dinghy. But the truth is, nobody knows exactly what happened."
