Listen, I’ve got a great story for you. It’s about Prince William and Alicia Vikander, and it’s absolutely charming. During a black-tie dinner in Stockholm on William and Kate Middleton’s royal tour of Sweden and Norway, these two had an incredible chat. As Alicia revealed to Swedish news outlet The Local, they bonded over a show you’ve probably heard of—The Crown. Now, this is where it gets interesting. The 29-year-old actress mentioned that The Crown wasn’t the only TV show they discussed. Oh no, they also chatted about Game of Thrones! Can you believe it? A royal and an Oscar-winning actress geeking out over Thrones? It’s like a dream come true.
Alicia Vikander Spills the Details
So, let’s dive deeper into what Alicia had to say. When asked about her interaction with the Duke of Cambridge, she replied with a smile, “Well, I’ve seen The Crown! It was actually the first thing my friend and I started talking about with William.” Now, here’s the kicker—she was lucky enough to sit right next to the future king during dinner. Can you imagine how surreal that must have been? She went on to say, “Apparently, he’s a Game of Thrones fan, I was told.” I mean, come on, that’s some serious nerd cred right there. Who would have thought that a royal and an A-list actress would bond over these shows?

More Royal Fans of 'The Crown'
Turns out, William isn’t the only royal who’s into The Crown. Queen Elizabeth herself has reportedly tuned in and really enjoyed it. According to a senior royal source speaking to The Sunday Express, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, are big fans. They apparently drive to Windsor Castle on weekends to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a movie. And guess what? They have a Netflix account and encouraged her to watch the series. “Happily, she really liked it, although obviously there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatized,” the source explained.
Other Royals Weigh In
Princess Eugenie, one of the Queen’s grandchildren, also expressed her love for the show. She said, “The music is wonderful; the story is beautiful and you feel very proud to watch it.” Even Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike Tindall, are fans. Mike said, “She’s brilliant, the one who plays the Queen. I think it’s a great show in terms of how they delivered it.” He added that he and Zara are “addicted” to watching it. But not everyone in the royal family shares the same enthusiasm. The Crown star Matt Smith, who played Prince Philip in Seasons 1 and 2, revealed that his friend once asked Philip if he had seen the show. Philip reportedly replied, “Don’t. Be. Ridiculous.” Guess that answers that!
