Let’s talk about some real royalty powerhouses, shall we? Prince Charles and Princess Anne have been turning heads as the hardest-working members of the royal family. According to a report from The Times, these two siblings were the busiest bees in the royal hive during 2017. Now that’s impressive!
Charles and Anne: The Royal Workhorses
Prince Charles, the future king of England, was no slouch when it came to royal duties. He attended a whopping 374 engagements in Britain alone. His sister, Princess Anne, wasn’t far behind, clocking in at an impressive 455 appearances. Now, that’s dedication! And let’s not forget their international efforts—Charles managed 172 engagements abroad, while Anne handled 85. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip must be so proud of their trailblazing first two children!

When we think about the royal family, it’s hard not to be amazed by their sheer dedication. 2017 was a particularly busy year for them all. Prince Philip, who is 96 years old, decided it was time to step back from public life. But before he did, he still managed to complete 131 public engagements. In a statement, Buckingham Palace announced, “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, The Duke has the full support of The Queen.”
Philip's Retirement: A New Chapter
Since stepping back, Philip has been enjoying some much-deserved downtime. According to sources, he’s diving into all those books he’s been meaning to read. “He is enjoying reading things he’s always wanted to read and gets up to what he wants without an equerry telling him he has to be elsewhere, or a camera following him,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, his wife, Queen Elizabeth, who is 91 years young, hasn’t slowed down a bit! She managed to carry out 296 public appearances in 2017. That’s an incredible number, especially considering many of those engagements were close to home in London, cutting down on travel time.
Next Generation: William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan
Moving down the family tree, we have Charles’ eldest son, Prince William, who is also set to inherit the crown one day. William kept himself busy with 117 public appearances in the UK and 54 abroad. His wife, Kate Middleton, who is expecting their third child, had the fewest appearances with 63 at home and 42 abroad. This was due to her needing to cut back on duties after suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness.
On the other hand, Charles’ youngest son, Prince Harry, who recently made headlines with his engagement to Meghan Markle, carried out 139 engagements at home and 70 abroad. Some of those engagements even included Meghan, and let’s just say, they made quite the team. Fans of the royal family can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for these dynamic royals!
