Let’s talk about Sally Field, an icon in Hollywood who’s been making waves for decades. At the age of 71, Sally is thriving and in great health. Fans have been concerned, especially after seeing her former flame, Burt Reynolds, but guess what? Sally’s doing just fine, and she’s here to remind us all that age is just a number.
Sally hasn’t slowed down one bit. Just this year, she dazzled audiences in the comedy-horror flick Little Evil. Back in 2015, she stole our hearts with her role in Hello, My Name Is Doris. And let’s not forget her unforgettable portrayal of Aunt May in the The Amazing Spider-Man series. But her talents aren’t just limited to the big screen—earlier this year, she also graced the Broadway stage in the critically acclaimed The Glass Menagerie. Her versatility is unmatched, and it’s clear she’s got more up her sleeve.

Sally has never shied away from discussing the challenges of aging in Hollywood. In a candid interview, she opened up about how she’s embraced this phase of her life. “In so many ways, I feel like I’m just getting to know myself,” she revealed. “We all go through different stages of life, and every single one is a chance to come of age in our own way.”
She’s also been refreshingly honest about acknowledging her age. “Turning 70 was a wake-up call for me. Yes, it’s old, and that’s perfectly okay. Over the years, I’ve gathered strength and resilience. There’s a value that comes with experience, a wisdom that doesn’t develop when you’re younger. It’s only after you’ve been around the block a few times that you truly understand who you are,” Sally shared with poise and grace.
A Battle with Depression and Eating Disorders
Despite her current glow, Sally hasn’t always had an easy ride. She recently disclosed her struggles with depression during her time on the 1960s hit show The Flying Nun at the tender age of 19. “I was drowning in sadness. It was like a sharp pain in my gut. It was the first time I ever felt that way. I felt like a part of me had just given up and died,” she recalled. “There’s nothing lonelier than being disconnected from yourself.”

Her depression took a toll on her self-image, leading to a battle with an eating disorder. “I was so consumed by sadness that I gained 20 pounds almost overnight,” Sally admitted, revealing her struggle with bulimia. “Everyone around me was rail-thin like Twiggy, and I felt completely unattractive.” Thankfully, Sally has come a long way, and we couldn’t be happier to see her shining brighter than ever. We can’t wait to see what she does next!
