Jennifer loves mixing things up, but 2017 was all about getting back to basics with some intense gym sessions. “I’m working with my trainer who has me pushing really heavy things, throwing heavy things, whipping around ropes, and crawling across the floor,” she said. Sounds intense, right? But Jen swears by it. “He’s an incredible trainer, but it’s such a different vibe from what I usually do.”

But Jen’s not all about heavy lifting. She also loves The Class by Taryn Toomey, a yoga-based strength class that she describes as a cathartic mind-body experience. “It’s like a moving meditation that’s both therapeutic and physical,” she explained. “It’s 75-minutes long and it’s a pretty powerful experience.” For those who can’t make it to a class, Jen has some at-home tips: “I’ll run on a treadmill and do intervals for 45 minutes to get a good sweat going. And don’t forget the infrared saunas—they’re like jumping into an infrared sleeping bag for an hour, which does wonders for cellular rejuvenation and detoxification.”

Her Diet Is Healthy, But Totally Doable

Jennifer’s diet is all about balance and simplicity. “I wasn’t always a breakfast person, so I had to train myself to become one because it’s such an important meal,” she said. “Smoothies are my go-to in the morning because they’re quick and easy. In cooler months, I love oatmeal with cinnamon and bananas.”

For lunch, Jen keeps it light with protein-packed salads or veggies, followed by a healthy snack like an apple and some soup. Dinner is similar, but she’s not afraid to indulge in a little treat now and then. “If I want something sweet, I’ll have a frozen yogurt for dessert,” she said. “But honestly, I’m more into savory stuff—chips, cheese, all the salty goodness. Chocolate cake? Not my thing.” Lucky for us, Jen proves that you can have your cake (or chips) and eat it too!

Meditation Is Just as Important as Exercise

Mindfulness might sound like a buzzword, but Jennifer knows it’s a powerful tool. “Understanding why you work out is just as important as the workout itself,” she said. “It’s vital to exercise—not just for staying strong, but for avoiding laziness. If I get injured and can’t move my body, I really notice a difference in my mood.”

“Meditation gives me such a boost in the morning—it’s like a supercharge for the day ahead,” she said. “Things just roll off me more easily when I meditate. It’s not just about the physical—it’s about the mental and emotional well-being too.”
