Let’s give it up for Neil Patrick Harris! This guy knows how to keep things light, even when the Emmys nominations don’t go his way. If there’s one thing we love about Neil, it’s his sense of humor—and boy, did he deliver this time around!
Neil Patrick Harris Takes the Snub in Stride
On Thursday, July 13, the Emmys nominations were announced, and some of Hollywood's biggest names, like Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Viola Davis, and Robin Wright, made the list. But our beloved Neil Patrick Harris? Not so much. Instead of sulking, Neil turned the situation into pure comedy gold. And honestly, who else could pull that off with such charm?

Neil took to Twitter shortly after the nominations were announced, poking fun at the situation. “Curse you, @TheEmmys, and all that you stand for! Vengeance…will…be…MINE!!” he hilariously captioned a photo of himself as Count Olaf from the Netflix adaptation A Series of Unfortunate Events. Talk about perfect timing! The image was so fitting, it had us laughing out loud. Neil, you’re a true comedic genius.

But here’s the thing—Neil wasn’t done yet. He added a playful twist by asking if he could still score a ticket to the Governor’s Ball, the prestigious after-party for the Emmys. “Um, possible to still get a ticket to the Governor’s Ball?” he joked. If we were running the guest list, Neil, you’d be at the top of it!
A Look Back at Neil’s Emmy Success
Neil Patrick Harris is no stranger to Emmy success. Over the years, he’s won four Emmys and been nominated five additional times. From 2007 to 2010, he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in How I Met Your Mother. He also earned nods for hosting the Tony Awards, taking home the award in 2010, 2013, and 2014. In 2010, he even won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his guest appearance on Glee. With a track record like that, it’s no surprise that fans were rooting for him this year.

Neil’s Love Affair with ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’
This isn’t the first time Neil has shown his enthusiasm for A Series of Unfortunate Events. Back in March, when the show was picked up for a second season, Neil celebrated in a big way—by getting a new tattoo! He captioned the photo of his ankle inked with a mystical eye, the symbol of the evil character he portrays in the show, saying, “We got picked up for Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I got this to celebrate. #FirstTattoo #AnkleBone #Oof #Olaf #ScampStamp @andersonluna @unfortunatetv @netflix.” If that’s not dedication, we don’t know what is!
Neil, we’re rooting for you next year. Maybe that mystical eye tattoo will bring you some extra luck. Until then, keep making us laugh and inspiring us with your incredible talent!
