But during one of her stops in Washington D.C., the event turned extra special when none other than her husband, Barack Obama, decided to make a surprise appearance. It wasn’t just any visit, though—Barack brought flowers, proving that he’s still got that charm that made him one of the most beloved presidents in history.
Barack Obama Steals the Spotlight
According to People, the 57-year-old former president showed up on stage with Michelle, and he didn’t waste any time in making the audience laugh. As CNN reported, Barack joked about his appearance, comparing it to when Jay-Z makes a guest appearance during a Beyoncé concert. “This is like — you know when Jay-Z comes out during the Beyoncé concert? Like, ‘Crazy in Love’?” Barack said. “It’s the same thing. It’s just a little sample to enhance the concert.”

This book tour has been an incredible journey for Michelle, full of surprises and stories that we might not have heard otherwise. For instance, did you know that she once tried to escape the White House? That’s right, escape. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Michelle revealed a story about a night when she was dining inside the residence, surrounded by bulletproof glass. She had no idea that thousands of people were gathering outside the White House to celebrate something important.
“When you’re in the residence, there’s so much bulletproof glass that sometimes you don’t hear what’s going on outside,” Michelle explained. “And we were having dinner and we were listening… we knew there was a celebration happening but we didn’t realize that thousands of people were gathering in front of the White House at that time to celebrate. And my staff was calling me, everybody was celebrating, people were crying, and I thought, I want to be in that. Also, we had worked to make sure that the White House was lit up in the LGBT colors. It was beautiful.”
“So we had made that plan and I was sitting and watching it on TV and realizing, I’m living this,” Michelle continued. “I said, ‘I have to break out of this. I want to go outside and I want to be a part of that celebration.’ So I had the bright idea, I’m going outside.”

And guess what? She actually did it. Michelle managed to slip out and join the crowd, proving that even as the First Lady, she never lost her sense of adventure.
