Melissa Joan Hart Shares How Her Sons Are Growing Up
Let me tell you something, folks—being a parent is no easy task. And if there’s anyone who knows this firsthand, it’s Melissa Joan Hart. You know her from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, where she played the lovable witch Sabrina Spellman. But now, Melissa’s all about playing a different role: mom to three growing boys—Mason, Braydon, and Tucker. Recently, while chatting with Us Weekly, Melissa opened up about her sons and their evolving understanding of Christmas magic. It’s one of those bittersweet moments every parent dreads—when your kids start to question the existence of Santa Claus.
It’s been a journey for Melissa and her husband Mark Wilkerson. They’ve been trying their best to keep the Christmas spirit alive for their boys, aged 12, 10, and 6. But as kids grow, they start to notice things. Like, for instance, how exactly those presents ended up on the porch. Melissa shared a funny story about a time when Santa (or should we say Melissa and Mark) dropped off a bag of toys in their backyard. At the time, the kids were thrilled. But six years later, those same kids are starting to connect the dots.
When Kids Start to Suspect the Truth
Let’s rewind to that magical Christmas when Melissa and Mark cleverly placed a bag of toys on the back porch. Back then, the kids were completely convinced it was Santa. Fast forward to now, and the boys are starting to raise some eyebrows. Melissa recounted a conversation where her sons brought up that very incident. “Remember the time you dropped the bag of toys on the back porch?” they asked. Melissa, playing her part, replied, “What are you talking about? That was Santa!” But the kids aren’t buying it anymore. They’re starting to suspect that maybe, just maybe, Santa isn’t real.

The Hard Work of Keeping Santa Alive
Now that Melissa’s kids are older, she and Mark have to work even harder to keep the magic alive. Melissa admitted, “Six years later, and they’re admitting that they know—or they think they know—it was us.” The boys are starting to piece things together, asking questions like, “Remember it was just there on the back porch and you put it there?” Melissa, ever the actress, tries to keep the story alive. “No,” she insists, “it fell. It fell from an upstairs window!” It’s a battle of wits, and Melissa’s determined to win.

Staying in the Clear
Melissa’s oldest son, Mason, is especially sharp. He’s been asking a lot of questions lately, and Melissa admits that they’re getting close to cracking the code. But for now, she and Mark are “still in the clear.” They’re doing everything they can to keep the magic alive, even if it means coming up with some pretty elaborate stories. As Melissa put it, “Hopefully, I won’t leave the gifts in the backyard this year!” It’s all part of the fun, though. For Melissa, keeping the Christmas spirit alive isn’t just about Santa—it’s about creating memories that will last a lifetime.
