Christopher Lloyd Makes a Guest Appearance on 'Roseanne'
Guess who’s hopping into a DeLorean and landing in the world of the Conner family? That’s right, Christopher Lloyd is making a guest appearance on tonight’s episode of 'Roseanne'! The legendary actor will play the role of Lou, the new boyfriend of Roseanne’s mom, Beverly. While it looks like this will be a one-off appearance, fans are hoping for more since Lloyd has that kind of charm that just makes you want him around longer. Let’s face it, who wouldn’t want Doc Brown hanging out in Lanford?
A Sneak Peek at Lou and Beverly’s Dynamic
In a sneak peek from the upcoming episode, we get a glimpse of Christopher Lloyd alongside Estelle Parsons, who plays Beverly. If you're a die-hard fan of the original series, you might remember that Bev wasn’t exactly living her best life. She divorced Roseanne’s dad, Al Harris, after discovering he had a mistress for two decades. Yikes! And if that wasn’t enough drama, we later learned that Al was abusive during Roseanne’s childhood. So, it’s safe to say Beverly deserves some happiness, and Lou seems like he could be the guy to bring it.

First Impressions: Lou Meets Roseanne and Jackie
In the clip, Bev introduces Lou to her daughters, Roseanne and Jackie. She says, “These are my daughters,” and Lou, trying to break the ice, responds with, “I would have mistaken them for your sisters.” Now, if there’s one thing Jackie is known for, it’s her quick wit. Without missing a beat, she fires back, “Uncalled for, Lou!” Classic Jackie. It’s moments like these that make 'Roseanne' so relatable and hilarious. Who else would call out a newcomer like that?
Star-Studded Casts Then and Now
Back in the day, 'Roseanne' had some of the biggest names in Hollywood making guest appearances. Remember George Clooney as Billy Cartwright? Or Leonardo DiCaprio as Scotty? And let’s not forget Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone, Ellen DeGeneres, Debbie Reynolds, Tobey Maguire, and so many others. The reboot continues this tradition with a lineup that includes Sandra Bernhard, Natalie West, James Pickens Jr., and Adilah Barnes. It’s like a who’s who of talent!
Roseanne Barr herself has been pretty open about the challenges of bringing back some of the original cast. In a recent interview, she mentioned that George Clooney wasn’t interested in returning. “Well, George Clooney didn’t want to come on — so that was a bummer, but he lives in Italy,” she joked on 'The Howard Stern Show.' Despite his absence, the show has clearly struck a chord with audiences. ABC has already greenlit a second season, proving that the Conner family still has plenty of stories to tell.
What’s Next for 'Roseanne'?
Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, expressed her excitement about the show’s return. “We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes,” she said. “The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year.” With Christopher Lloyd now part of the cast, it’s safe to say ratings are about to skyrocket. Who wouldn’t tune in to see Doc Brown hanging out in the Conner household?
