Melania Trump Returns to Work: A Positive Update

It’s great to hear that First Lady Melania Trump is back in action! At just 48 years old, she’s proving she’s got plenty of energy left. More than two weeks after undergoing kidney surgery and three weeks since she last appeared publicly, Melania is reportedly doing really well. Her spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, shared some encouraging news on Tuesday, May 29. Grisham revealed that Melania has been actively participating in several internal meetings with her staff over the past week, and these discussions are continuing into this week.

Stephanie Grisham mentioned that they’ve been focusing on some big initiatives and long-term planning for upcoming events, like the Congressional Picnic and the Fourth of July celebrations. However, it’s still unclear exactly when Melania will fully resume her public duties. But hey, let’s keep sending her good vibes because she’s clearly on the right track!

Melania Shares Her Own Health Update on Social Media

Earlier this month, Melania took to Twitter on Wednesday, May 16, to personally update the nation on her health status. In her message, she expressed sincere gratitude to the medical team at Walter Reed Medical Unit and to everyone who had sent her good wishes and prayers. Melania assured everyone that she was feeling great and was eagerly looking forward to returning to the White House soon.

Just a day before, President Donald Trump had also chimed in on Twitter to share how proud he was of his wife. He said, “Our great First Lady is doing really well. Will be leaving the hospital in two or three days. Thank you for so much love and support!” It’s clear that both the Trumps are grateful for the outpouring of support they’ve received during this time.

    Details About the Procedure

Previously, it was revealed that Melania underwent an “embolization procedure” on Monday, May 14, to address a benign kidney condition. Stephanie Grisham explained that the surgery was successful and that there were no complications. Melania spent her recovery period at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and was expected to stay there for the rest of the week. Grisham emphasized that Melania was looking forward to a full recovery so she could continue her important work advocating for children everywhere.

Although President Trump didn’t accompany Melania to the hospital before her surgery—he stayed at the White House—he did visit her in her recovery room three times before she returned home. This surgery marks one of the most significant medical procedures a First Lady has undergone while her husband was in office since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987.

    Understanding the Embolization Procedure

It’s still unclear whether Melania’s surgery was planned or performed on an emergency basis, and no further details have been provided about her specific condition. For those unfamiliar with kidney embolization, Healthpoint describes it as “the deliberate blocking of the blood flow to the entire kidney, or a portion of it, by placing a blocking agent in a blood vessel (artery).” This can involve using various materials like gelfoam, PVA granules, or metallic coils to block the blood vessel.

According to NCBI, this procedure is used in the treatment of a variety of health issues, including conditions such as symptomatic hematuria, palliation for metastatic renal cancer, renal tumors, treatment of angiomyolipomas, vascular malformations, medical renal disease, and complications following renal transplantation. Despite all this, Melania hasn’t disclosed the exact issue she was treating. Regardless, we’re all rooting for her speedy recovery!
