You know, life is a journey filled with ups and downs, and for country music star Jewel, navigating the world of single motherhood has been both a rewarding and challenging experience. Let’s dive into her story. Jewel has been rocking this single mom life for about four years now. She recently opened up to In Touch about the joys and struggles of raising her six-year-old son, Kase, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Ty Murray. The two were married for six years before calling it quits back in 2014.
Here’s the thing: parenting is no walk in the park, especially when you’re co-parenting. Jewel explained to In Touch — in the magazine's latest issue, available now on newsstands — that one of her biggest challenges is the ever-changing needs of her child. "As soon as you figure out something that works, your child’s needs change, so you have to rethink your approach," she shared. "You have to put your child first. Sometimes, you just need to take a deep breath, let go, and remind yourself to be kind. No name-calling, just kindness," she continued. "In the end, only kindness matters!"

Lessons in Imperfection: Teaching Kase the Value of Growth
Jewel is all about teaching her son valuable life lessons, even if it means admitting she doesn’t have all the answers. "I hope my son sees that it's okay to not know everything," she said. "More than striving for perfection, our children need to understand the importance of kindness toward ourselves and recognizing that we're all works in progress." Jewel went on to explain how fortunate she feels to be able to take Kase with her to work. "I don’t have to leave him at daycare. I can bring him with me, and as we travel, I can teach him along the way," she added.
Will Kase Follow in Jewel's Footsteps?
Now, here’s the million-dollar question: will Kase grow up to be the next big thing in the entertainment world? Jewel says it’s not her decision, but she does think he has the potential. "He’s definitely capable," she admitted. "He’s funny, charismatic, but I don’t know if performing is in his blood. As a parent, my job is to let him experience as many things as possible so he can discover what he’s truly passionate about." Jewel’s approach to parenting seems to be all about balance—giving Kase the freedom to explore while guiding him with love and understanding.
