A New Dynamic on the Today Show
It’s been quite the journey for the Today show since Matt Lauer's sudden departure two months ago. Now, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb have stepped into a new chapter, and let me tell you, they couldn’t be happier about working side by side. During a fun-filled appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on January 17, Hoda, 53, opened up about the unexpected chemistry between them. “Savannah and I started anchoring together, and it’s weird,” she admitted. “But in the best way possible! When you meet someone and immediately click, it’s like magic. We’re having so much fun—it just works!”
The Chemistry Clicks
Savannah, 46, chimed in, saying, “Hoda compared it to a first date, and I was like, ‘Hey, I’m easy and desperate!’ Seriously, though, it just clicked. It felt so right from the start. We’re so lucky to have this connection. We’re genuinely happy to be doing this together.” The duo has clearly found their groove, and their camaraderie is shining through on-screen. Savannah continued, “It was tough at first, everyone saw that. But something really lovely and positive has emerged. We’ve got the best staff, and they’ve helped us navigate this new normal.”

Healing After Hard Times
In a candid interview with People magazine, Savannah and Hoda revealed how they’ve supported each other through the tough times that followed Matt’s sexual misconduct scandal. “From the moment the news broke, our hearts were shattered,” Savannah shared. “It’s not easy to go through something like that, but it’s also true that we’re family. And in good families, hard times bring you closer together. That’s exactly what’s happened here.” Hoda added, “We were just trying to make it through those days side by side. Sometimes when you go through something challenging with someone, you discover something special about them. That’s what happened with us.”
Al Roker Weighs In
Savannah and Hoda’s co-star Al Roker also praised Hoda’s smooth transition into her new role. “It’s one of those things that feels completely natural,” Al said. “Hoda’s been part of the team for so long, and everyone loves her. So it’s been seamless. The audience can feel that chemistry, and it’s made all the difference.”
