Prince George And Princess Charlotte: Royal Riding Lessons Begin Early

Prince George Is Reportedly Already Learning Horseback Riding

Alright, listen up, because this story is about as adorable as it gets. Prince George, the little guy who loves Peppa Pig, munches on pizza and pasta, and is destined to be the future King of England, has something else in common with his great-grandma Queen Elizabeth—or as he sweetly calls her, "Gan-Gan." It turns out, both of them have been horseback riding since they were just wee tots. Prince George, who'll hit the big five in July, is already in the saddle, practicing his riding skills at Windsor Castle. And guess what? Queen Elizabeth herself started young too. At just four years old, she got her first horse, a Shetland Pony named Peggy, as a present from her grandpa, King George V.

Who's Helping Little George with His Lessons?

Now, here’s where things get even more interesting. Prince George isn’t just riding any old horse. His uncle, Prince William, reached out to their super-talented cousin Zara Tindall, who's not only an equestrian but also an Olympic medalist. According to palace insiders, Zara lent the young royal one of her Shetland ponies to help him get started. This tidbit was revealed to Hello! magazine, giving us all a glimpse into the royal family’s close-knit world.

Here's the scoop: Prince William and Kate Middleton are super keen on getting George into riding, just like the rest of the royal family. But they’re also super mindful of his size. “They didn’t want to put him on a big horse,” a source explained. “They asked Zara if they could use one of her Shetland ponies, and he’s been learning to ride on one of those.” Shetland ponies are the perfect size for little riders like George, making them ideal for teaching young kids the basics of horseback riding.

    Princess Charlotte Joins the Fun

And guess what? Princess Charlotte, George’s little sister, is also getting in on the action. According to Natasha Baker, an equestrian who's won three gold medals, Charlotte has already shown a real interest in horses. “Kate said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding… I mentioned we might see her in line-ups in about 20 years,” Baker shared. “She emphasized that Charlotte has a real passion for horses, and even though Kate doesn’t share that same passion, she’s fully committed to supporting and encouraging it.”

Will Riding Become More Than Just a Hobby?

Now, if Queen Elizabeth’s lifelong love for riding is any indication, this early interest could turn into something much more serious for both Prince George and Princess Charlotte. At 92, Queen Elizabeth still enjoys the occasional ride, often seen trotting around in her jodhpurs, riding boots, and a stylish headscarf instead of a helmet. With both kids showing such enthusiasm, we might just see a couple of new royal Olympians bringing home the gold in the not-so-distant future—maybe by 2032!
