Prince Harry's New Role: Commonwealth Youth Ambassador

Prince Harry Gives Sweet Speech About Meghan Markle

Well, folks, here’s a moment to celebrate! Prince Harry has just delivered his very first speech since being named the Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. This is a role that’s going to be pivotal in his life as he prepares for marriage. As the Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, Harry will focus on building bridges between young leaders and communities across the globe, tackling pressing social, environmental, and economic challenges. It’s a big responsibility, and Harry is stepping up to the plate with grace and determination.

Harry's Heartfelt Speech at the Commonwealth Youth Forum

On Monday, April 16, Prince Harry addressed the Commonwealth Youth Forum, marking the official start of his new role. In his speech, the soon-to-be-married royal expressed his deep gratitude for the support of his fiancée, Meghan Markle, who will also be joining him in this exciting venture. "I am incredibly grateful that the woman I am about to marry, Meghan, will be joining me in this work," Harry said warmly. "She’s as excited as I am to take on this challenge and make a difference in the world." While Meghan’s official title hasn’t been announced yet, it’s clear that she’s fully committed to this shared mission. Together, they’re set to make waves in the Commonwealth, inspiring young people everywhere.

Inspiration from the Queen: A Legacy of Service

Harry also shared that he’ll be drawing inspiration from his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who has long been a guiding light for the Commonwealth. "On her 21st birthday, the then-Princess Elizabeth delivered a remarkable radio address from Cape Town," Harry recalled. "She pledged her life to the service of the people of the Commonwealth, and she’s kept that promise ever since." Harry emphasized that young people are the key to solving the challenges of today, and he’s eager to follow in the Queen’s footsteps. "Her message was clear: young people must lead the way in making the Commonwealth a more free, prosperous, and influential force for good in the world," he added.

With this new role, Harry and Meghan may need to spend a lot more time in Australia, and let’s be honest—nobody’s complaining about that! The couple is already planning a trip to Sydney later this year for the 2018 Invictus Games, an event close to Harry’s heart. Although Kensington Palace hasn’t officially confirmed it, Meghan hinted at the exciting news during a recent outing with Harry in Bath, England. Speaking to athlete Michael Mellon, she admitted she’s thrilled to visit Australia for the first time and experience the country alongside her future husband.

Australia has always held a special place in Harry’s heart, dating back to his 2003 gap year adventures in the outback. In 2015, he charmed the nation further during a month-long secondment with the Australian Defence Force. Last year, he returned to Sydney to launch the Invictus Games, and it’s clear he can’t wait to bring Meghan along to share the magic of the country with her. The 2018 Invictus Games kick off on October 18 and run until October 29. Mark your calendars, because this is going to be a spectacular event!

During a conversation with athlete Michael Mellon, who competed in sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball at the Invictus Games last year, Meghan accidentally let the upcoming trip slip. "She told me she had never been to Australia but was going to this year’s event and really looking forward to being there with Harry," Michael revealed to royal reporter Omid Scobie. This trip will likely mark Meghan’s first official overseas tour as a member of the royal family.
