Prince William's Surprising Fast Food Love: Nando's Gets A Royal Seal Of Approval

Prince William Loves Nando's But Admits That His Security Has to Get it

Let me tell you a story about a royal who's not afraid to show his love for some good old-fashioned fast food. You might think Prince William spends all his time dining on gourmet meals fit for a king, but this guy has a soft spot for a particular casual dining chain. And guess what? He just spilled the beans about it!

So here’s the scoop: During an event called the Next Generation Impact Entrepreneurs Forum on April 17, Prince William met one of the founders of Nando’s, Robert Brozin. Now, this isn’t just any old fast food joint we’re talking about. Nando’s serves up Portuguese-Mozambican chicken that’s been marinated and basted with a fiery kick. And it turns out, William has a real thing for it. But here’s the kicker—he wasn’t the one who discovered it first.

Who Introduced Prince William to Nando's?

It wasn’t Prince William himself who stumbled upon this mouthwatering chicken. No, he owes it all to his police protection officer. Yep, you heard that right—his security guy is the one who introduced him to the joys of Nando’s. “This man here is your biggest fan,” William said, pointing to his officer. “He’s the one who introduced me to Nando’s. And let me tell you, it’s very good.” In fact, William joked that the officer “should buy a stake in Nando’s” given how much he loves it.

    What Makes Nando's So Special?

But what exactly is it about Nando’s that’s got Prince William and so many others hooked? Well, the chain was founded back in 1987 by Robert Brozin and Fernando Duarte after they tried peri-peri chicken in South Africa. Peri-peri, also known as bird’s eye chili, is one of the spiciest peppers out there. It’s this unique flavor that sets Nando’s apart. “After just one bite of the mouth-watering peri-peri marinated and basted chicken, [Robert and Fernando] knew it was a taste that had to be shared,” says the Nando’s website. Today, Nando’s has over 1,000 locations spread across five continents. And if you’re wondering whether other celebs are fans, the answer is a resounding yes. Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z, David Beckham, and Rihanna are just a few of the big names who’ve been spotted enjoying a Nando’s meal.

    Prince William's Aspirations Beyond Chicken

Of course, William wasn’t at the forum just to talk about chicken. While he was there, he also discussed his goals for the Royal Foundation, which he founded with Harry and Kate Middleton back in 2009. “We, as the Royal Foundation, can help lead, but if we can connect to some of those bigger foundations in the world and come together with one message, imagine the focus and the change,” he said during a roundtable. “I like the idea of a team. It’s all about how we work together.” So, teamwork makes the dream work, and William will definitely be bringing the snacks—probably from Nando’s!
