Hey there, friends! So, you might have heard that Dancing With the Stars pros Peta Murgatroyd, 31, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, 38, are thinking about expanding their family. They recently opened up to Life & Style about their plans to give their adorable 14-month-old son, Shai, a little sibling. “We would absolutely love to have a girl next,” Peta beamed. “It’s funny because we can’t imagine having another boy, not because we don’t love Shai, but because the thought of loving another boy the way we love Shai seems unimaginable.”
Now, Shai is already showing off some impressive skills for a toddler—he’s walking, talking (in both English and Russian), but he hasn’t quite started following in his parents’ famous footsteps just yet. “He hasn’t started dancing yet,” Peta shared with a chuckle. “But he absolutely loves music.” While Shai waits for his baby sister, he’s got another little companion in the house to keep him entertained. “He loves talking to Alexa!” Peta revealed. “He babbles at it all the time, and of course, Alexa doesn’t have a clue what he’s saying, but it’s adorable.”

More Babies on the Horizon?
This isn’t the first time Maks and Peta have hinted at expanding their family. Back in February, Maks couldn’t hide his excitement about the idea of having more babies with his stunning wife. “I can’t wait for more,” Maks gushed. “If I had my way, we’d have a baby every year!” Of course, Peta playfully pushed back, saying, “That means I’d be constantly pregnant. I think three is a good number. Maybe in a year, it would be nice. They’d still be close in age.”
Raising a Respectful Boy
In the meantime, Shai’s parents are focused on raising him to be a respectful and kind young man. “I think he’s going to be a very good, respectful boy,” Maks shared proudly. Peta added, “That’s one thing I won’t ever tolerate—rudeness. He has to be good to women. It’s important to us that he grows up with values.”
It sounds like Shai is already on the right path, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this growing family!
