Through her MuttNation Foundation, Miranda recently handed out a staggering $189,000 in grants to animal shelters all across America. MuttNation Foundation: Supporting the Best of the Best
MuttNation, Miranda's beloved organization dedicated to promoting and facilitating the adoption of shelter pets, didn’t just hand out these grants willy-nilly. Oh no, they meticulously reviewed shelters from coast to coast, narrowing down their list to 50 truly outstanding ones. Each of these shelters received grants ranging from $3,000 to $5,000, funds that will go a long way in helping these shelters continue their life-changing work with rescue animals. In a heartfelt statement, Miranda expressed her admiration for these shelters: “I am amazed and humbled by the great work these shelters do, and so honored to be able to support their critical efforts on behalf of rescue animals.”

MuttNation’s Mission: Finding Homes for Every Rescue Pet
Back in 2009, Miranda and her mom, Bev Lambert, joined forces to create MuttNation, a foundation aimed at raising awareness for rescue animals and shelters, and helping dogs find their forever homes. But this wasn't a simple task. Bev explained that selecting the right shelters was far more challenging than they initially anticipated, as not all shelters were operating at the same high standards. That’s when the Mutts Across America award program was born. It’s designed to recognize and reward the best of the best in the shelter world.
As Bev put it, “We feel we have now developed a criterion list through which we hand-pick the ‘best of the best’ shelters.” And it’s clear that both Miranda and Bev, along with their board of directors, are thrilled to partner with these exceptional shelters, sharing a common goal of improving the lives of rescue animals everywhere.
Gratitude from the Shelters
One of the recipients, Lisa Pearce from the Charleston Animal Society, expressed her heartfelt thanks: “On behalf of the animals in our care, you have our deepest gratitude. What a wonderful surprise to receive your certificate, letter, and generous donation to Charleston Animal Society. We are celebrating five years of being the first No Kill open admission shelter in the Southeast, and we’ll make sure your kindness goes toward saving the lives of our sweet shelter dogs and cats.” Can you just imagine the wagging tails and grateful barks echoing through those shelters?
