Roseanne Barr’s Surprising Revelation About Her Vision

Let’s talk about Roseanne Barr, the legendary actress who once thought she was losing her eyesight. It’s been three years since she announced that she was going blind due to macular degeneration and glaucoma. But guess what? She’s got some great news for all of us. In a recent interview, Roseanne revealed that her initial diagnosis was incorrect. “I went to a new doctor about a year ago,” Roseanne shared. “She told me I don’t have macular degeneration after all. Instead, I have a mole on the inside of my eye that’s growing, and that’s why my vision has been narrowing.”

A Relief Beyond Words

Imagine thinking you’re losing your eyesight due to a genetic condition, only to find out it’s something entirely different. That’s exactly what happened to Roseanne. “Probably in the next year or so, I can get this mole removed,” she explained. “I do have a bad eye, but I’m not losing my eyesight. My dad has macular degeneration, so I thought it was genetic. I just accepted it as part of life. But when the new diagnosis came, it was a huge relief. It’s not deadly, and honestly, I didn’t take it too badly. I mean, compared to what some of my friends are going through, this is a much better diagnosis.” Roseanne shared these thoughts in an exclusive interview with People.

Roseanne isn’t one to dwell on the negative. She has a philosophy that’s both refreshing and inspiring. “I’m positive that nothing will go right in life, and that’s okay with me,” she said with a laugh. “It lets me off the hook, you know? Life is full of surprises, and they’re rarely what you expect. So why not live every day to the fullest and have as much fun as possible? Do something good for someone else every day, anonymously if you can. That’s the key to happiness, in my opinion.”

    Her Journey with Medical Marijuana

Back in 2015, Roseanne opened up about her use of medical marijuana to help manage her symptoms. She believed it was helping with the pressure in her eyes. “I have macular degeneration and glaucoma, so marijuana was really beneficial for me. It helps with the pressure in my eyes, and it’s a great medicine for a lot of things,” she told the Daily Beast at the time. Now, with her new diagnosis, she might not need to rely on it as much, but she still stands by its benefits.

Roseanne’s Fans and Family Stand Strong

Roseanne’s TV daughter, Sara Gilbert, previously spoke about her mom’s health challenges on The Talk. “Roseanne is such a strong and important person in my life. I know she’s a fighter, and I truly believe that if anyone can handle this, she can,” Sara said. “It’s hard to imagine anyone we love dealing with something like this. Losing eyesight is a big deal, but I know Roseanne will face it with strength and grace.” Thankfully, Roseanne is doing much better today, and her fans couldn’t be happier for her!
