Hey, you know that feeling when something just hits you right in the heart? Well, it seems like we’re not the only ones who got emotional about the new Roseanne reboot. One of the show’s beloved stars, Sara Gilbert, couldn’t hide her excitement about the incredible ratings the show’s premiere brought in. During her daytime talk show, The Talk, on Thursday, March 29, Sara opened up about how overwhelmed she and the cast are by the love from the fans.
“There’s always that nervousness before you jump into something new, right? But let me tell you, we’re so grateful to the fans for making this happen,” Sara said, clearly touched as she spoke with her fellow co-hosts. “It’s just mind-blowing to see how much this show still resonates with people after all these years.”
Reliving the Premiere Moment by Moment
Sara went on to describe her experience on the day of the premiere, sharing how she was flying across the country while anxiously tracking the show’s airtime in different cities. “I was watching the clock like a hawk,” she recalled, laughing at the memory. “It was coming on in New York, then Chicago… and when I finally landed in LA, I was in my car, counting down the seconds. At 8:01 PM, I was like, ‘Oh my god, it’s on in LA!’ It was such a surreal moment.”

A Journey Through Time
For Sara, this reboot isn’t just about bringing back a beloved sitcom—it’s a trip down memory lane. She was just 13 years old when the original Roseanne premiered and 22 when it ended. “Thinking about it now still brings tears to my eyes,” she admitted. “This show is my childhood. It’s part of who I am. Watching it come back to life is like a dream come true. It’s so surreal to see it all unfold again.”

And guess what? Sara isn’t the only one who thinks this show is pure gold. The premiere episode pulled in a staggering 18.2 million viewers—that’s even more than the 1997 finale! Clearly, America is just as excited to welcome the Conner family back into their living rooms. In fact, the revival has already been renewed for another season, announced on Friday, March 30.
A New Chapter for the Conners
Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, expressed her excitement in a statement: “We’re absolutely thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. This show is just as fresh and relevant today as it was 21 years ago when it first went off the air. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year. Trust me, it’s going to be epic!”
