Hey there, friends. Let’s talk about something that resonates with all of us—embracing the journey of aging. Savannah Guthrie, the vibrant co-anchor of the Today show, is leading by example. She’s not just accepting getting older but celebrating it. In a candid moment, she opened up about her feelings toward wrinkles. “Sure, like anyone, when I see a picture where my wrinkles are prominent, I might not love it at first glance,” she confessed. “But instead of shying away from it, I put a nice Instagram filter on and still share the photo. At 46, I’m proud to look my age.”
Now, here’s the thing. Savannah spends plenty of time in hair and makeup every day for her demanding job. But guess what? She’s not afraid to show her natural self. “I was genuinely surprised that people were so shocked when I posted pictures without makeup,” she revealed in a heartfelt Today.com blog post. “I mean, isn’t that just being real? We all have those moments where we step back and embrace our authentic selves.”

Here’s the kicker: Savannah doesn’t just tolerate wrinkles; she celebrates them. She’s found a way to see the beauty in them. “People tell me they can see my wrinkles,” she said with a smile. “And you know what? That’s okay. I call them smile lines because they’re from years of laughter and joy. Who wouldn’t want those kinds of wrinkles? We even did a segment on the show where I got a little Botox. Look, if it makes you feel better, why not? Do whatever it takes to feel your best.”
Motherhood Shapes Her Perspective
Savannah credits her adorable daughter, Vale, for shifting her mindset about beauty standards. “Vale is only three, but she’s soaking in everything I do and say,” she explained. “As women, it’s so easy to criticize ourselves without thinking twice. But I have to be mindful. I don’t want her to mimic my self-criticism or start questioning her own worth based on appearance.”
Encouraging Healthy Habits
In her Today.com post, Savannah shared how she’s teaching her daughter about the importance of health over vanity. “I’ve been trying to stay active by playing tennis and exercising more,” she said. “When Vale sees me in my sneakers, she asks, ‘Mommy, why are you exercising?’ Instead of saying, ‘Oh, I need to lose 10 pounds,’ I tell her, ‘Because I want to be healthy and strong.’ Now, she repeats it back to me. It’s incredible to hear her say, ‘Mommy exercises to be healthy and strong.’” Vale is incredibly fortunate to have such an inspiring role model in her life.
So, the next time you catch Savannah on the Today show, remember that she’s not just a talented co-anchor but also a powerful advocate for self-love and acceptance. Vale—and all of us—are lucky to witness her journey.
