Just a few days ago, Witney shared some incredibly emotional news on Instagram. Her beloved father-in-law, Kevin McAllister, passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. In her post, she shared how much her family cherished him and how they’ll carry his memory with them as they move forward. “Although it will be excruciatingly painful at times to live without him, we know he lives on around us being our guardian angel wherever we go,” she wrote. That’s such a beautiful way to honor his legacy, don’t you think?

In her heartfelt Instagram caption, Witney went on to express her thoughts about the loss. “It’s hard not to think, why does my husband [Carson McAllister] have to live without his dad? Why do my kids not ever get to know their Poppy? And then I remember the Plan of Salvation, to know we will see him again… and that gives me peace.” She painted a vivid picture of Kevin preparing their kids for their eventual reunion, spinning them around until they’re laughing uncontrollably. “We know you’ll be there when we can’t see you or hold you — lift us up when we have moments of trouble and heartache,” she added. Such a touching tribute!
Previous Choices and Challenges
Back in December 2017, Witney made the tough decision to step away from the DWTS: Live! Light Up the Night tour to focus on her family during a challenging time. In an emotional Instagram post, she explained, “My heart hurts to tell you all that I will not be able to do the DWTS tour this winter. This is an extraordinarily difficult time for us, I hope all of you can understand that my place is here with my family. Right now, my focus needs to be on my family and especially on my husband… I love my fans and I feel so devastated that I can’t be there, but know that my heart is there with you.” That’s some serious family devotion right there!
What’s Next for Dancing With the Stars?
While we don’t know the exact air date for the next season of Dancing With the Stars, TV insiders are predicting it could return as early as April. Host Tom Bergeron recently hinted that the April show might be a mini-season spin-off rather than the traditional full-length series. He tweeted, “the four-week mini-season in the spring is a bite-size, spray tanned spin-off” and confirmed that Season 26 of Dancing With the Stars “will be next fall.” Could the April show be something new, like Dancing With the Stars Jr.? Or is it just a continuation of the classic series? Either way, we’re thrilled to see Witney back in action!
