Remember that explosive book about Princess Diana? Well, the same guy behind that blockbuster story is diving into another royal tale. British author Andrew Morton, who famously teamed up with Diana to write one of the most controversial books about the royal family, has just announced he's penning an unauthorized biography on Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's bride-to-be. In a recent tweet, Morton expressed his excitement: "Excited to be writing #MeghanMarkle’s story. She has bags of charisma. A royal star who will have tremendous impact on the royal family and the wider world."
Why Morton's New Book is Generating Buzz
This new tome promises to be an "in-depth and unparalleled" exploration of the life of the royal family’s newest member. Andrew Morton describes Meghan as a "dramatic contrast to the blushing royal brides of recent history." The book, titled Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, has been secured by Michael O’Mara Books and is scheduled to be released on April 19, 2018. That's just a month before Meghan Markle is set to marry Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

A Comprehensive Look at Meghan's Life
According to Morton, this book will offer a "comprehensive, unparalleled look at her life prior to the royal engagement." He goes on to say, "I was a fan of Meghan’s long before she met Prince Harry. She has star quality, what some have called ‘the Markle Sparkle.’ Confident, groomed, and camera-ready, she is a dramatic contrast to the blushing, coy royal brides of recent history." Morton also points out that the warmth and affection Meghan and Harry displayed during their engagement interview is a world apart from the stiff, formal engagement announcement of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
Morton adds, "Meghan is an exciting and genuinely charismatic addition to the royal family—she makes the House of Windsor seem relevant again. Hers is a fascinating story, and I can’t wait to tell it." Publisher Michael O’Mara echoes this sentiment, promising a never-before-seen look into Meghan's life before meeting Harry. "Andrew Morton, whose California home is a short drive from the area where Meghan spent her youth, is perfectly positioned to produce the first in-depth look at her life," he said.

Exploring Meghan’s Past
The book is expected to delve deep into Meghan's childhood and teenage years, exploring her relationship with her parents and half-siblings. Morton's groundbreaking work, Diana, Her True Story — In Her Own Words, was first published in 1992. At the time, he refused to reveal his source, but years later, with leaked tapes coming to light, we now know that Diana herself was the mastermind behind the entire publication.

When it was first released, the book caused such a scandal that some members of parliament even called for Morton to be locked up in the Tower of London. Two decades later, Morton remains unapologetic about writing it. "I’ve often wondered, would I have done it again? Honestly, the consequences of not doing it would have been too tough," he told 60 Minutes. "I think she forced the royal family to re-evaluate their position in society. We look at the monarchy in a different way now than we did in Diana’s day."
As Meghan prepares for life in the spotlight, the 36-year-old is ensuring that she isn’t the only one making sacrifices in the relationship. According to the Daily Mail’s Girl About Town column, the health-conscious star, known for her love of kale and green smoothies on her lifestyle blog The Tig, has asked Harry to quit smoking. "Harry has promised no smoking at all at home. It’s not nice for Meghan as a non-smoker," a friend explained. "So there’s no more hanging out of the window for a quick puff. Harry has quit for Meghan." If Harry needs advice on kicking the habit, his grandfather Prince Philip can help. The Duke of Edinburgh famously quit smoking on the morning of his wedding to Queen Elizabeth.
