That was a pretty valid question. After all, the music icon had stepped away from touring back in 2014 due to a serious virus that threatened her kidneys and heart. For a while, it seemed like the world might not get to see Cher perform live again. But Cher's spirit isn’t one that gives up easily. “I didn’t want to be finished,” she confessed. And guess what? She wasn’t done at all.

Back on Stage: Cher's 'Classic Cher' Production

Once fully recovered, Cher wasn’t about to stay away from the spotlight for long. In early 2017, she returned to the stage with her breathtaking Classic Cher production. Not content with just performing live, Cher also had another exciting project on the horizon: a Broadway musical about her life, aptly titled The Cher Show. Set to open in the fall of 2018, the show had a summer world premiere run in Chicago. Cher herself described it as "crazy, exciting, and bizarre," adding, “But that’s probably how most people see my life anyway!”

Written, produced, and directed by a team of Tony Award winners responsible for other major hits like Jersey Boys and Hamilton, The Cher Show takes audiences on a journey through Cher’s life, highlighting key moments and featuring some of her most beloved hits. It was a chance for fans to experience her incredible story in a whole new way.

Collaborating with Future in a Gap Ad Campaign

As if her busy schedule wasn’t enough, Cher also teamed up with rapper Future for a Gap fall ad campaign. The campaign focused on finding common ground between different people. “I didn’t know who Future was before this,” Cher admitted candidly, “but I knew it would be fun to work with someone so different from me. He’s young, talented, and driven, and that’s exactly what makes collaborations like this so exciting.”

When she’s not busy dazzling audiences on stage or in the studio, Cher enjoys spending time with her family, including her strong-willed mom Georgia, her sister Georganne, and her sons Chaz and Elijah. But don’t worry, fans—Cher isn’t planning on retiring anytime soon. “I keep coming back because I really don’t have anywhere else to go,” she joked. “What else would I do? I love singing, and I’m not ready to stop just yet.”
