As the world continues to cheer on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement, a fascinating photo from Meghan’s university days has surfaced, and let me tell you, this woman was born to be a royal. Back in the day, the now-36-year-old attended Northwestern University, where she graduated in 2003 with a double major in theater and international relations. Talk about being prepared for life in the spotlight!
Meghan’s College Days: The Early Signs of a Future Duchess
While at Northwestern, Meghan was already making waves—not just academically but socially too. She was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and a recently unearthed portrait from her days in this social organization shows just how much she looked like the poised, elegant woman we know today—even at 17 years old! Prince Harry, if you're reading this, take a bow because you’ve truly got yourself a remarkable partner. Meghan has always been open about her college experience, referring to herself as a “theater nerd.” Check out the video below for a glimpse of her sorority picture!
Back in 2013, Meghan opened up to Marie Claire about her time at Northwestern. “I was always the theater nerd,” she said with a laugh. “But I wasn’t keen on becoming that cliché—a girl from LA who just decides to become an actress. I wanted more. I’ve always been fascinated by politics, so I ended up switching things up and double-majoring in theater and international relations.” It’s clear that her international relations degree is going to come in handy as she navigates the complexities of royal life across the pond. Smart move, Meghan!

The Proposal: A Night to Remember
Now, let’s talk about how this whole royal romance came to fruition. Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan became engaged during a cozy night in at their home, Nottingham Cottage, located on the grounds of Kensington Palace. Harry described the magical moment during an interview with BBC News broadcaster Mishal Husain. “It happened a few weeks ago, earlier this month, at our cottage. Just a standard night for us. I was trying to roast a chicken… emphasis on the ‘trying,’” Harry recalled with a chuckle.

“She didn’t even let me finish. She said, ‘Can I say yes? Can I say yes?’ There were hugs all around, and I had the ring in my hand, trying to figure out how to give it to her. She was like, ‘Oh, the ring!’ It was perfect.” Harry added, “It was a really special moment, just the two of us. I think I managed to surprise her, which made it even better.” Meghan chimed in, saying, “It was so sweet, so natural, and incredibly romantic.” The couple is set to tie the knot at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
