Well, even A-list celebrities have their moments of pure human error, and Jen recently gave us a delightful glimpse into one of hers. On Monday, Aug. 6, she shared a story on Instagram about a little adventure she had with her eldest daughter, Violet, during their vacation in Sweden. Spoiler alert: it involved getting lost in a kayak. Classic mom move, right?

Now, picture this: Jennifer Garner, at the ripe age of 42, cruising along with her 12-year-old daughter, Violet, in a kayak, trying to enjoy the Swedish sunset. Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it? But as it turns out, their kayaking escapade was more of a maritime misadventure. Jen posted a photo of the two of them paddling into the sunset, which was undeniably picturesque, but the backstory was anything but serene. “On a pre-middle-school sneak away with my eldest… Did I get us lost in a kayak? Yes. Did we paddle as hard as we could for what felt like 100 hours and end up in a shipping lane? I’m afraid so,” she hilariously recounted. “Did we have to be rescued? Yup.” Thankfully, they ended up safe and sound, with the sunset being a bright side to the whole ordeal. And get this — Violet didn’t complain once! #GoodJobViolet

Rescue on the Water: Jennifer's Gratitude to Her Swedish Savior

Jen didn’t stop at just sharing the story of their mishap. Oh no, she went on to express her heartfelt thanks to the guy who came to their rescue. “If you’ve seen my post today… This is Mattias! Our savior! Thank you, @bipsterpersson!” she wrote alongside a selfie with the lifesaving Mattias on her Instagram story. You can imagine how thrilled he must have felt rescuing a Hollywood star and her daughter. I mean, come on, that’s a story he’ll be telling for years to come. And kudos to Mattias for being there when they needed him most!

A Little Family History: Violet’s Arrival

Violet, the cool-headed daughter who didn’t complain during the kayak mishap, was welcomed into the world by Jennifer and her ex-husband Ben Affleck back in 2005. Along with Violet, the couple is also proud parents to Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6. Jennifer has a knack for sharing funny family stories, and one of her favorites involves the moment she found out she was pregnant with Violet.

“I woke up that morning and I just knew,” she began, recounting the tale. “I peed on the stick and it was so faint… those first few days it’s so faint, you can hardly tell. So I was on my way to work and I called my doctor and said, ‘Can I come in and have a proper test?’”

“And he gave me one and he said, ‘I don’t know, you’re not pregnant. It’s negative.’ And I was like, ‘Yea, I am, I’m telling you I am,’” Jen continued, with a laugh. “And so, she’s 12 and I don’t use that doctor anymore but I do have her, so I won.” Talk about perseverance paying off!
