It’s been almost 10 days since Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall, welcomed their second royal baby girl. Now, the world finally knows the sweet name they've chosen for their little princess. Picture this: a palace spokesperson stepped forward to announce the adorable name of the newest addition to the royal family.
According to the UK’s Daily Express, Zara and Mike have named their second daughter Lena Elizabeth Tindall. If you're wondering where the inspiration came from, well, it's pure love and tradition. “The name is Lena Elizabeth. It was just a name they liked,” the spokesperson revealed. By the way, the baby’s first name, Lena, is pronounced “Lay-na.” The middle name, Elizabeth, is a heartfelt nod to her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. How sweet is that?
Introducing Lena: The Second Royal Baby of 2018
Earlier this month, the Tindalls made the joyous announcement that their second child had arrived. The official statement from the royal communications team read: “Mrs. Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit.” Mike, the proud father, was by Zara's side during the birth, and their baby girl weighed in at a healthy 9lbs 3oz. Baby Lena joins the royal family as the second addition this year, following the birth of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s third child, Prince Louis, back in April.

Sharing the Joy: A Royal Announcement
According to the palace statement, “The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips, and Mike’s parents, Mr. Philip and Mrs. Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.” It’s clear that the entire royal family is thrilled about the newest addition. Zara and Mike, who tied the knot in 2011, announced their pregnancy earlier this year in January. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Queen and the royal family were “very pleased” by the news. This moment of happiness comes after the Tindalls experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage in December 2016, making this arrival even more special.

Life Beyond the Palace: Zara's Unique Royal Journey
Zara, a former Olympic equestrian who is the 16th in line to the throne, and Mike, a former England rugby star, are already parents to four-year-old Mia Grace Tindall. Their new baby, Lena, makes her the fourth grandchild for Princess Anne and the seventh great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Zara, the daughter of Princess Anne (the Queen’s only daughter), has a unique position in the royal family. Her father, Captain Mark Phillips, declined a royal peerage upon his marriage, and Princess Anne famously opted not to extend the title of Princess to Zara. As a result, the Tindalls and their children don't carry royal titles. Zara has often spoken about how grateful she feels for this choice. “I’m very lucky that both my parents decided not to use the title, and we grew up with opportunities that gave us the freedom to live our lives,” she told the Times in 2015. Congratulations to Zara and Mike on their growing family!
