It’s been more than two years since Kathie Lee Gifford lost her beloved husband, Frank Gifford, a former New York Giants football star who passed away in August 2015 at the age of 84. Now, in a candid moment, Kathie Lee has revealed that while she’s open to the idea of finding love again, the dating scene hasn’t exactly been kind to her so far.
Opening Up About Love and Dating
During an Access Live interview on Wednesday, March 14, the 64-year-old Today show star shared her thoughts on the subject. “Who doesn’t want to find love again?” she asked. “I think my chances might be a little lower, obviously. I think some men are intimidated by strong women — but honestly, I wouldn’t be interested in a man who felt that way anyway.”
Kathie Lee went on to explain that some men might feel pressured to live up to the legacy of Frank Gifford, an eight-time Pro Bowl Hall of Famer. But she quickly dismissed that notion. “Frank was just a flawed man, like anybody else. He wasn’t perfect, and neither was I. We were just two people who loved each other deeply.”

Her First Steps Back into the Dating World
Kathie Lee continued, “I didn’t know Frank as an eight-time Hall of Famer. He was my husband, my best friend, and we were friends for four years before we fell in love. So if it’s part of God’s plan for me to find love again, I’m certainly open to it.” But don’t expect her to be swiping right anytime soon. “I’m not out at singles bars. I’m not online,” she clarified.
During the interview, Kathie Lee admitted to going on one unfortunate date in the nearly three years since Frank’s passing. “He didn’t share my faith, and he couldn’t understand why I wasn’t interested in being with him,” she explained. “I told him, ‘My faith isn’t something I do for an hour on Sunday mornings. It’s who I am, and I’m not willing to share my life with someone who doesn’t share that same passion.’”
Despite this setback, Kathie Lee remains optimistic. “I’m not deterred. I’m open to meeting someone who has their own teeth, honestly!” she joked, lightening the mood with her characteristic charm.
The Challenges of Modern Dating
In a recent exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, a close source revealed that while Kathie Lee is looking for companionship, someone to laugh with and learn from, she doesn’t want to date a lot of different men. “She finds the modern ways of dating quite daunting,” the source said. “She worries she might seem old-fashioned if she actually wanted to speak to a date on the telephone.”
Adding to the challenge, many men her age are interested in dating younger women, making it more difficult than she anticipated. But Kathie Lee isn’t letting these obstacles stop her. She’s determined to find someone who values her for who she is.
