Her Majesty's Enduring Love for Her Corgis
At the remarkable age of 91, Queen Elizabeth II continues to inspire admiration as she carries out her duties as a full-time monarch. Whether it's meeting world leaders or participating in state events, the Queen approaches her responsibilities with grace and dedication. But even the most official of meetings aren't complete without her favorite companions—her beloved corgis. These loyal furry friends have been a source of comfort and joy throughout her record-breaking reign, and one particular pup recently made headlines for crashing a royal meeting.
A Heartwarming Encounter at Windsor Castle
On April 11, during a private meeting at Windsor Castle’s Oak Room, the Queen hosted the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Patricia Scotland. The occasion marked the prelude to the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government event in London. As they discussed matters of state, an unexpected guest joined the gathering—a playful corgi named Whisper. In a delightful photograph shared on the official royal Instagram page, Whisper can be seen trotting alongside the two dignitaries, adding a touch of lightheartedness to the formal proceedings.

The Story Behind Whisper, the Beloved Corgi
According to HELLO!, the adorable corgi who crashed the meeting is named Whisper. Whisper originally belonged to the Queen’s gatekeeper, Bill Fenwick, who passed away in early 2017. After his passing, Her Majesty decided to adopt Whisper, unable to resist the charm of this little pup. Despite her decision years ago to stop breeding corgis due to concerns about potential falls and ensuring proper care for the animals, the Queen couldn't help but make an exception for Whisper.
Whisper now shares his home with other cherished members of the Queen's canine family, including a corgi named Willow and two corgi-dachshund mixes, Vulcan and Candy. The Queen’s love for corgis dates back to her 18th birthday in 1944, when she received her first corgi, Susan. Over the years, these dogs have become an integral part of her life, with the Queen once humorously remarking, "My corgis are family."
