Legal Troubles Loom Over David Cassidy's Estate
It's been just two months since the passing of the iconic singer and actor David Cassidy, and his estate is already embroiled in controversy. According to court documents uncovered by The Blast, two separate lawsuits have been filed against Cassidy's estate. These legal actions seek to recover unpaid legal fees amounting to approximately $120,000. The first lawsuit comes from the law firm Rodier & Rodier, demanding $102,834, while the second, filed by attorney Damaso W. Saavedra, seeks $19,006.02. These claims are adding another layer of complexity to an already challenging situation for those managing Cassidy's legacy.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time Rodier & Rodier has taken legal action against Cassidy. Back in 2013, the firm initiated a lawsuit against the former Partridge Family star. However, that case was put on hold when Cassidy filed for bankruptcy a few years later. At the time, the outstanding bill was included as part of his bankruptcy proceedings. A representative for Cassidy told People that the estate is currently contesting both lawsuits and has no intention of settling with either Rodier & Rodier or Damaso W. Saavedra. It's a tough situation, and the legal battles are just beginning.

David Cassidy's Final Wishes: A Legacy Divided
After Cassidy's death, it came to light that his estate, valued at a modest $150,000, was left entirely to his son, Beau Cassidy, who is 26 years old. Cassidy's will made no provisions for his estranged daughter, Katie Cassidy, now 31. Documents obtained by The Blast reveal Cassidy's explicit intentions, stating that it was his "specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendant [of hers]." Cassidy's will further clarifies that any reference to his "child" refers exclusively to his son Beau, the product of his third marriage to Sue Shifrin. This decision means that Beau will inherit the entirety of the $150,000 estate, while Cassidy's memorabilia will be passed on to his three half-siblings.

It's worth noting that Cassidy's relationship with Katie was strained during his lifetime. Born in November 1986 to Cassidy's then-girlfriend Sherry Williams, Katie never developed a close bond with her father. Cassidy himself admitted to People in the past, "I’ve never had a relationship with her. I wasn’t her father. I was her biological father, but I didn’t raise her. She has a completely different life." This estrangement clearly influenced Cassidy's final decisions regarding his estate, leaving his daughter entirely out of his will.
