Meet Prince William And Kate Middleton's Famous Pets

Duchess Kate and Prince William’s Dog Lupo: A Quick History | Us Weekly

Hey there, royal fans! Let's talk about something a little less formal than crowns and castles—pets! While Queen Elizabeth's corgis have stolen the spotlight for years, did you know that Prince William and Kate Middleton also have furry friends in their royal household? And one of them is practically a celebrity in his own right!

Introducing Lupo: The Royal Cocker Spaniel

Meet Lupo, the adorable English cocker spaniel who's been part of the Cambridge family for quite some time now. In fact, this charming pup has been around longer than Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis! William and Kate were first seen strolling along a beach with Lupo back in 2012, and at the time, even the royal representatives were tight-lipped about the dog's name. A spokesperson reportedly said, "It’s a private matter." But don’t worry, we soon learned that the little guy's name is Lupo, which means "wolf" in Italian. How fitting, right? Lupo's mother is Ella, a dog owned by Kate's parents, and he's named after Kate’s paternal great-grandmother, Olive Christiana Lupton.

Can’t believe it’s been three years already! The Duke and Duchess would like to thank everyone for all the lovely messages they have received for Prince George's 3rd birthday, and are delighted to share four new photographs of Prince George to mark his third birthday, taken by photographer Matt Porteous at their home in Norfolk in mid-July.

    Lupo's Royal Mishaps

Even royal dogs have their drama, folks! Back in 2013, Lupo made headlines when he wasn’t invited to the royal Christmas gathering at Sandringham. According to reports, the Queen herself made it clear that Lupo wasn’t on the guest list. “The Duchess is especially fond of the puppy and was sad that he could not accompany them,” a source told The Telegraph. Poor Lupo had to stay behind with Kate’s parents in Berkshire. But hey, maybe he needed a break from all the pomp and circumstance!

    From Furry Friend to Celebrity

Even if the Queen doesn’t love Lupo as much as Kate does, the British public certainly adores him. In fact, after Lupo’s debut, there was a noticeable rise in interest in black cocker spaniels. Unfortunately, this also led to an increase in thefts of black cocker spaniels, as reported by the Daily Mail. Lupo’s fame doesn’t stop there—he’s also the star of a children’s book series by Aby King, featuring titles like Lupo and the Secret of Windsor Castle and Lupo and the Thief at the Tower of London. And yes, he even has his own Wikipedia page!

    More Than Just Lupo

While Lupo might be the star of the show, he’s not the only pet in the Cambridge household. During the grand opening of the Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace in 2016, Kate revealed that they also have a hamster. A then nine-year-old girl named Darcey told Hello! magazine that Princess Charlotte loves the hamster because its whiskers tickle her face. Now, the big question is—does Lupo get along with the hamster? Let’s hope they’re both happy members of the royal family!

So, whether you're a fan of dogs or small furry creatures, it’s clear that William and Kate’s pets bring joy to both the royal family and their fans around the world. For all the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Prince William, and the rest of the royal family, join our Facebook group!
